It might have been a couple of weeks ago, but I still think it is worth mentioning how much fun I had at the Crag Rats 5 Mile race in Knaresborough.
Being more "at home" on the roads, I wanted to test myself a little bit, with the mixture of hard pavements and trails really spicing things up and changing my pace, cadence and effort throughout the run. The famous (and seemingly endless) steps at mile 4 was a proper send off to the hard climbs in the run, that finished with half a mile of road running towards the cricket ground where it all started and a lap of the cricket pitch to the finish line.
Is it a fast race? nope. Is it a thoroughly enjoyable one? Oh yes indeed! With downhill moments that lull you into a false sense of security, allowing you to have a bit of banter and a chat with fellow runners around me, to imperceptible, but long spells of incline that have the lungs really blowing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this race and I will be looking forward to September next year where I can do it all again.
