‼️Update on the proposed Thornton bridge closure‼️

After writing to Network Rail’s Chief Executive, Liam Sumpter, I have since received the following update this afternoon regarding the proposed bridge closure and diversion in Thornton 👇

“We understand the frustration of residents and yourself, for what will be a disruptive but essential piece of work to enable the electrification of the railway.

“Having reflected on your own correspondence, and the feedback from the local community, we are going to undertake a period of further engagement on this project.

“This will involve deferring our project start date, which will enable us to listen carefully to the views of the local community, and make changes where possible. Where change cannot be accommodated, we will provide clear and detailed feedback explaining the reasons why.”

🙋‍♀️ I will also be attending tonight’s engagement meeting to ensure that the voices of our local community are heard.
