A little bit of a different cake post this one.
Last week i became quite poorly and despite being so unwell all i could think about was letting my customers down. Whilst awaiting test results i decided to contact some baker friends and the amazing Helen at Hel's Kitchen agreed to take on the cake i was due to make, literally the next morning she had her oven on! I contacted the customer who understood the situation and was happy for Helen to do the cake, I then sent Helen a few supplies i was going to use. Cake turned out wonderful, just as i would of done it and the customer was happy!
I'm very lucky to have such a lovely circle of baker friend's, we are never in competition with each other as we all realise there is more than enough work to keep us all going. It's not easy being self employed, there's nobody paying our wages if we don't work and our reputations are very important to us. Running a small business can be really challenging at times, having a good support network around you personally and professionally is so important!
