Latest: 22 February 2018 is the deadline for school teams to present their projects
Only a small proportion of girls choose to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) or go on to develop STEM-based careers.
In cooperation with SI Weybridge and SI Surrey Hills, SI Woking has renewed its STEM Challenge for schoolgirls in years 8/9. The STEM Challenge is a competition that aims to foster the abilities of girls to innovate and to become more interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths-based careers.
An Information/Briefing evening for teachers was held at the Royal Holloway, University of London on 5th October 2017. Several schools are taking part, including Ashcombe School, Dorking, Bishop Wand School, Sunbury-on-Thames, Guildford County School (four teams) and Woking High School (three teams). The judging and prize-giving evening will be at Royal Holloway on 8th March 2018 and the Judging Panel will be chaired by the High Sheriff of Surrey, Robert Napier CBE.
