Food, objects, dogs and coos! It’s amazing what I’m asked to put on a cupcake. 😂

Just for context, the tax books and matches were for my husband who retired at the end of April - he would rather have set fire to actual tax books but a cupcake had to do! I now have an assistant although he’s not allowed to touch actual cakes. Just fetch and carry and he is undergoing intensive training to wash my dishes. He has been performance managed a few times but I’m hopeful he’ll get there one day.

Fondant themed cakes today - a Japan/Scotland mash up to celebrate a wedding (my recent trip to Japan came in very handy! 😂); hiking and cycling for a special birthday; a boy and his pets for a first communion; and the Beano and a guitar for a 21st. Never a dull moment!

As always with sugar models, I learned a lot from these cakes, principally, I never wish to make a bicycle ever again! And I enjoyed making sugar sushi 1,000 times more than I enjoyed eating the real thing. 🤢

It’s the turn of the teeny tiny mini cupcakes today. The hardest bit about making these is holding on to them when decorating - they are fiddly little blighters! I always bake extra to replace the ones I drop on the floor. 😂

These are one bite, two max and are ideal for parties and people who don’t like too much cake. Diet cake! 😂

All the flowers today!

I got a comment on my last post (from a cake maker no less) saying “more AI garbage 🤦🏻‍♀️” which, after my initial 😡, I chose to treat as a compliment. I wouldn’t know how to create an AI bunch of cupcake flowers if my life depended upon it! These were all made with my two hands and absolutely zero computers.

Some recent buttercream cakes today - mostly flowers and a guest appearance from a vintage piped cake (inspired by a photo my customer sent of a cake by the wonderful Studio Sweetly).

I get lots of messages about the price of these cakes - I don’t have a price list as price is entirely dependent on size, shape, style, number of flowers (which take hours), complexity etc. Any cake enquires can be sent to [email protected]

I’ve just baked 72 mini cupcakes so I’m now off to decorate them. Keeps me out of mischief! Or more accurately, stops me from declaring I’m bored after sitting still for 5 minutes.

I’m back from my holidays! The jet lag is almost under control (Japan is VERY far away 😂) and I’m back to caking.

Here’s some Beatrix Potter inspired cupcakes I did just before my break. Might be my new favourites. Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail are channeling the Handmade’s Tail but that is what they wear - honest!

A couple of fondant themed cakes from the last week. Everything edible with the exception of the odd cocktail stick holding things together! My edible printer and I finally see eye to eye and I only have a tantrum every 10 minutes. Progress!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums, grannies and mother figures out there. My son works in Zambia so I won’t see him but flowers were arranged. Good lad!

EDIT: now sold.

Due to a menopausal faux pas I have piped too many Mother’s Day cupcakes and have a spare 7 cupcake bouquet ready for collection from G43 this afternoon between 3.30pm and 5pm or tomorrow morning between 9am and 10.30am. Cupcakes are all vanilla and contain gluten, eggs and milk (butter) and may contain trace nuts. I use professional food colouring, some of which contain E numbers which can make children go bonkers.

Just send me a message if you would like it and I’ll provide details of my address etc. It’s £36 which I will donate to the Prince and Princess of Wales hospice.
