Andrew North's talk on the history of opera was fascinating. He illustrated it beautifully with music from operas over the centuries and held the audience spellbound.
Our next meeting is on 20 May at 7.30pm in Eydon Village Hall. It's for ladies only and non members are welcome (paying just £5 including refreshments)

We are going to sample Pinnock Distillery's gin! There will be an opportunity to purchase your favourite once we've finished tasting. So come along and enjoy a relaxing evening - the gin tasting will be followed by the usual refreshments and, no doubt, lots of chatting.

Last month we enjoyed a successful 'away day' to Moreton Pinkney Village Hall, where we received a warm welcome, tried our hand at short mat bowls and had an invitation to return - so we couldn't have been too bad!
In April we are returning to our usual home of Eydon Village Hall.

04/03/2026

Our next meeting on 18th March at 7.30pm is at a different venue!
We're heading to Moreton Pinkney Village Hall where the members of the Short Mat Bowls Club are going to teach us how to play the game.
Will we find hidden talents? Who will be first to pick up the skills needed?
This meeting is open to all ladies, guests pay just £2 for this evening instead of our usual guest fee.
Our efforts will be rewarded by tea and biscuits at the end of the evening.

Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful time during the festive season. Eydon Ladies' Christmas Meal at the George and Dragon in Chacombe went well, so well I forgot to take any photos!
Now we're getting ready for our first meeting of the year which will be our AGM on Wednesday 21st January at 7.30pm in Eydon Village Hall.

All ladies are welcome, don't forget that subs are due, £30 for the year. Cash is preferred in order to keep bank charges low. If you're new to the village, or area, and aren't sure you want to join just yet please come along as a guest to meet everyone, it's only £5 for the evening.

Nancy gave a fascinating and informative talk on the influences which have shaped our local landscape to our well attended open meeting in November. She covered events from the Ice Age to modern times and I think it's fair to say we will all look at our surroundings with new eyes now. We started to get into the festive spirit with mulled wine and mince pies, certainly very welcome on a very cold evening.
Our next meeting is the Eydon Ladies Christmas party in December which is for members only.

25/10/2025

We are looking forward to our November meeting on the 19th of the month in Eydon Village Hall at 7.30pm.
Our speaker is Nancy Stewart, an architectural and garden historian who will be leading us through an exploration of the Northamptonshire landscape. Why do places look like they do, what causes changes and when do they occur?
This is an open meeting, at which everyone is welcome. Members please bring husbands, partners and friends. Guests pay just £5.
We're not having hot drinks and biscuits after Nancy's talk we're going to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies, because it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We thoroughly enjoyed Anita's demonstration of Indian cooking at our October meeting. She cooked a delicious chickpea curry in less than 15 minutes which we enjoyed tasting with rice, a lentil dish and Bombay Aloo which she had prepared earlier.
She also gave us lots of information about Indian cuisine and really useful tips to improve the flavours of our meals.

Our October meeting will be on the 15th at 7.30pm in Eydon Village Hall. It's open to all ladies - guests pay just £5.
We're going to watch a cookery demonstration by Anita Chipalkatty and there will be the opportunity to taste some of the dishes.
She is a chef, cookery teacher and recipe developer so we are really looking forward to the evening.

Andrew Crofts really entertained us. He described how aspiring authors can get their work published and how many ways are now available. The best way to start writing is to sit down and begin! There are far more ways to get your work either into the public domain, or simply to write something for your own family, than there were when Andrew began his career a 'few' years ago.
So - go on - give it a go! And, if you get stuck - we can recommend a good ghostwriter...
