Itโs with heavy hearts that we are writing this note to all of our wonderful customers.
We have made the very difficult decision to not go ahead with the sit-down cafe space on Albion Hill, Epworth.
As a small business, we have had to make sure all of the numbers add up and that the expansion of our little business would be viable.
Unfortunately, the numbers are not working in our favour at this current time. We have always been upfront and honest with you all, and we wonโt change that now. Since making the step to grow our business, we hired a staff member, and very sadly had to let them go. Alongside this, The HMRC owe us a large sum of money, which has put significant pressure on our cash flow - with no sign of them paying us back anytime soon.
Sadly, the current economic climate is not encouraging for business growth. With increased costs in business rates, minimum wage/SSP, ingredients, utilities, equipment, packaging and many more things . . . Our profit margins are tighter than ever!
To conclude, there is too much financial risk for our business to operate two premises. The cafe is still something weโd absolutely love to do, and in the future we hope to make that happen. We had to explore this road, to find out that it wasnโt quite the right time for us.
For now, we will stick with what we do best . . . running our little bakery, serving our lovely customers and working together as the OG sisters team (with the occasional help from mum). Thank you all for your support and for the amazing level of interest in our cafe dream. We couldnโt ask for more.
