Tricky phonics practice!
Loved this little set up for my eldest. He finds some of the digraphs (two letters that make one sound) a little tricky so I filled these plastic eggs with those digraphs and when he found them in the rice he had to make a word with the sound and write it down.
We used our green grass sensory rice (available on request), tray and scoop and our Read Wrote Inc sound cards.

Bees!
Our love of bees continues! Instead of rice we used lemon dough which is bright and smells so good! Loving these honey stirrers that can be used to roll patterns in the dough. This play actually gives a wee clue as to what might be coming after Easter 😉
Reminder today that Sunday will be the last day for Easter orders. This will give me enough time to have all orders with you by Easter Sunday. So if you fancy a wee gift to add to an Easter basket, or an activity to do Easter Sunday then please DM me to order! 😀

Carrot counting!!
The twins nursery mentioned they were starting to work on number and letter recognition so I thought I’d set this activity up for them.
Even though the twins can’t say their numbers yet, they’re understanding is so good and it’s important to not put off certain activities just because you don’t think your child will ‘get it’. It’s amazing how much children can get out of activities even if they can’t understand the main purpose.
Immersing children in numbers and letters and constantly using them in our language can help with their recognition and understanding and they’ll surprise us a few weeks down the line when they point out a letter or number correctly.

Giveaway closed!
Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway! I will be announcing the winner tomorrow night and will share in my stories. Can’t wait to see what the winner picks and get it sent out for your little ones.
I love this quote as I read it recently in a brain development course I was doing through the open university. It talked about how up until the age of nine, children learn best when they are immersed in their learning. For me, this is so evident in my own children as well as the children I teach. And is one of the main reasons as to why I am so passionate about sensory play. It allows children to use their whole self - mind, body and soul, in their play 😍

Lemonade stand!
I absolutely love our Flisat table and it is so handy for the twins as it's the perfect height, is big enough for them both and the trays are deep enough for sensory bases like rice and lentils.
At nursery they are learning how to be helpful, clean up after snack, and pour themselves milk. I thought this activity would help reinforce those skills and they absolutely loved it. They brought all of their kitchen things through as well so they could fill pots and pans and cook in their own kitchen. Their speech is really starting to improve now and activities like this are such a great opportunity to help this along by starting conversations.
Rice - citrus lemon and lime rice (available in my shop)

My name is Kat and I am a mummy to three little ones. Alfie is almost 5 and the twins, Flyn and Noah, have just turned 2. I am a part time teacher and have been teaching for 11 years.
I started Sensational Play as I spend a lot of my time setting up fun but educational activities for my own kids and have been making playdough as a mum and a teacher for a long time. I love seeing children exploring and learning through play and hope to help other mums, dads and carers have fun with their children.
I love the diversity of playdough. How it can be used for imaginative play, letter and number recognition, anxiety and stress relief and so much more. It’s accessible for everyone, whether that’s children, adults, people with disabilities or stressed out mums who use it like a stress ball alongside some wine!
I make all the dough at home in my family kitchen with food grade ingredients. It’s important to me that all of my products are eco friendly and I try to think about how my products and packaging impact the environment. All of the playdough and packaging can be recycled. The dough can even be composted or put in your food waste bin!
Because the dough is made by hand, I do have a delivery time of 1 - 2 weeks. That is to make sure I can create product that is high quality and arrives on time.
Over the coming months I hope to explore more sensory and educational resources to bring more variety to our shop so watch this space! I hope you enjoy my products and they bring as much fun as they have with my own children. I welcome feedback and any questions so don’t hesitate to ask!
