〰️ T H E O & E N Z O 〰️ it’s been a week now with these two wee ones and I couldn’t be more in love, I can’t even properly describe it ❤️ They captured my heart and soul from the moment they arrived. I now don’t want to imagine a moment without them near. It’s crazy how so much has changed in an instant.

We had a tricky time bringing them into the world but we’re all finally safe and happy at home. The midwives, obstetricians, paediatricians and nursery nurses at the Simpson Maternity Ward are truly incredible! I will always be grateful to them for making what was a stressful and scary situation as calm and reassuring as possible. I don’t think I could ever really properly express my gratitude to them for what they have done. They helped bring my two favourite people into the world!

〰️ U P D A T E 〰️ Hello cake lovers! Just a little update to say that I am now on maternity leave awaiting the arrival of little baby twins. My husband and I are very lucky (and also a bit terrified) to be gifted with two on our very first go! Any day now our life is going to completely change and I cannot wait. It’s going to be chaos for sure but in all the best ways 💕

Throughout my leave I will be checking my inbox and taking care of my couples, but it will just take me a wee bit longer to respond to your messages. Thank you all in advance for your patience!

To my couples getting married in the Spring and Summer of 2022, you will have received an email from me in the past few weeks detailing the processes going forward. Please let me know if you did not receive it. For weddings in the latter part of 2022 you have also received an email detailing my return to the studio.

I want to thank all of my 2021 couples and those who reached out to me during this past wedding season. It was a CRAZY wedding season packed with postponements and more cakes than I could have ever imagined. And to get through it pregnant with twins was no mean feat. I want to thank everyone for their patience in awaiting responses from me, I truly appreciated how kind and understanding everyone was.

Lastly, I wish I could say that I am as calm and relaxed as I am in the photo but the truth is that this photo was taken in July and I am much bigger, much slower and ready to be done with this pregnancy 😂 I’m so looking forward to all that is to come and can’t wait to share it with all of you!

I absolutely loved making these flowers, especially the heather, though I dare not say how long they actually took me to make. It was my first time making heather and I greatly underestimated the amount of detail work required. It was well worth it though because it’s my favourite flower in the bunch, but there were some late late nights for sure ✨

✂️🌸✨ Here’s a little in-progress pic of F & D’s wedding cake at the Cow Shed in Crail a few weeks back. I really loved making the sugar flowers for this design and it was such a joy to decorate. Arranging the flowers and seeing the design come together is definitely my favourite part of the process!

I know I haven’t been on Instagram in a good long while and I have really missed sharing with all of you! It has been such an intense and busy wedding season (understatement of the year) that I just haven’t had the time to post. Postponed dates have filled the weeks far fuller than I would have ever dared to book them so Instagram has fallen by the wayside. I promise to share more with you soon, but hopefully this little pic of me in action will do for now 🤍

Since Covid restrictions have lifted to allow weddings to begin again, I’ve really been looking forward to getting back to making sugar flowers. Especially these little waxflowers, they’re just so cute!

Covid has been an admin hellscape, and that’s putting it lightly. I cannot wait until my workflow returns to normal. It’s meant that I’ve had no time – or more honestly, no energy – to put towards the creative side of the business. Now that weddings are going ahead again it’s so wonderful to be in the studio creating edible art once more 🤍🌸

Butter & Bodoni is a creative cake studio based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We blend art and design with butter and sugar to create one-of-a-kind wedding cakes for the modern, creative couple. We adore working with design-driven couples looking for unique and inspired confections – creating contemporary designs that taste as good as they look! We also believe that flavour is everything. Your cake should not only beautifully capture your style and vision but it should also wow your guests’ palettes too! That’s why we bake all of our cakes and confections from scratch in our studio kitchen, sourcing local ingredients whenever possible. All of our buttercreams, ganaches, curds, compotes and caramels are homemade as well, and we think that makes our cakes unparalleled.
