⚽ A little break from the scheduled posts for one that left the kitchen this weekend!

This chocolate cake was made for Max, who plays for Ranby Football Club, so of course we had to go all-in on the football theme. 🧡🖤

Chocolate sponge inside, orange buttercream outside, with the Ranby Football Club badge taking centre stage, football details, trophy topper and a football-inspired design around the front.

I love being given a theme that means something to the birthday person and getting to turn it into cake!

This one was giving proper old-school birthday party vibes, and I loved it!

A classic vanilla sponge, filled with jam and white chocolate buttercream, then covered in that gorgeous bright blue buttercream and finished with mini ice cream cones overflowing with buttercream and sprinkles. 🎂

Simple flavours, but definitely not a simple-looking cake! The little upside-down ice creams might be one of my favourite details. 🍦✨

I make cakes for all sorts of celebrations, from completely bespoke themed cakes to something a little simpler like this, so if you’ve got a birthday or celebration coming up, September orders are open. Just drop me a message with your date, number of servings and any ideas you have.

WE MADE IT! 😂🎂 The final cake from the backlog!

And just as well really, because there’s a brand new cake order being delivered tomorrow, so apparently the backlog is about to start all over again. 😂

This little beauty was for Fred’s 1st birthday 💙 and was completely dairy free.

🎂 Dairy-free vanilla sponges
🍓 Jam & dairy-free “cream” filling
🤍 Vanilla buttercream
🌈 Finished simply with colourful sprinkles and that gorgeous personalised Fred topper

I love that dietary requirements don’t mean a celebration cake has to look or feel like the “alternative” option. It can still be a proper birthday cake, layers, filling, buttercream and all. 🥰

And I got sent a picture of it at Fred’s birthday celebrations too, which I always LOVE seeing!

So that officially concludes the great cake-photo catch-up of 2026. 😂

Another one from the August cake backlog and I LOVED how this one turned out 🌸✨

A gorgeous 40th birthday cake for Vicki, with fresh, summery flavours inside to match all those soft florals and rose-gold details.

🍋 Lemon sponge
🍓 Raspberry filling
🍋🍓 Lemon & raspberry buttercream

Finished with blush roses, dried florals, delicate skeleton leaves, rose-gold detailing and that beautiful personalised name topper.

I love getting to make cakes where the decoration can be elegant and grown-up but the inside is still ALL about the cake. Because pretty is important… but it still needs to taste bloody good. 😂

And seeing it all set up at the party makes it even better! 🥰

Another one from the cake backlog 🎂🫐

And proof that gluten free absolutely does NOT have to mean boring!

This birthday cake was made with layers of gluten-free vanilla and blueberry sponge, finished with the dreamiest blueberry cheesecake frosting. 🫐💜

Simple on the outside, but ALL about the flavour inside. The blueberry cheesecake frosting is packed with blueberry pieces too, giving it that gorgeous naturally pinky-purple colour.

If you need a gluten-free celebration cake, I can adapt plenty of flavours so nobody has to settle for the sad little gluten-free option in the corner. 😂

Pumpkin spice. Caramel. Apple crumble. S’mores. Churros. Cookie pie. Basically all the cosy flavours I’ve been waiting for an excuse to start baking. 😂

There are some old favourites coming back, some completely new bakes and I genuinely don’t know which one I’m most excited about.

What a weekend! The Cake Cupboard has been BUSY and I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone who popped by, bought cake, shared the posts, recommended us or came back for another treat. 🥰

Looking at the cupboard tonight and seeing how little is left is always the BEST feeling. Thank you for continuing to support my little bakery and keeping me baking! 🎂

That’s it for the Cake Cupboard for a little while now as we’ve got holidays and races coming up and I’m actually going to attempt to take a bit of a break. 😂

And obviously I couldn’t just not plan it… the September menu has already been created and it is looking SO GOOD. 👀🍂 Think cosy autumn bakes, caramel, crumble, pumpkin spice and all the good stuff. 🤤

I won’t disappear completely though! Apparently I’ve made approximately 7,000 celebration cakes and remembered to post about three of them 😂 so I’ll be using the next few weeks to finally catch you up on everything that’s been leaving the Black Forest Bakery kitchen.
