Easter may be over, but we're not quite ready to say goodbye to Crème Eggs just yet...

🤩 CHRISTMAS BROWNIE BOX 2024 🤩

Whoops 🤭 I almost forgot to let you know...

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind with lots of the usual brownies, delivering my final wedding cakes of the year (over at ), then straight into Christmas market prep, so much so that I almost forgot to let you know about Christmas brownie boxes!

The first (and main bulk) of Christmas 2024 brownie boxes will actually be going out on Wednesday this week - in just a couple of days time 😬

There will also be another round available for local collection from us in Birnam on Saturday 21st December. We can also post on this date, but you must select the Tracked 24 postal option - this is the final Royal Mail Christmas posting date for this option.

This year's Christmas selection will contain:

🎄CHRISTMAS IS COMING TO THE TATTIE BARN 🎄

We'll be there this weekend with a fully stocked selection of all your favourite chocolate brownies, and a few other little sweet treats, including these handmade Scottish macaroons!

Incidentally, in keeping with the Tattie Barn theme, these little sweet treats actually contain some mashed potato in the filling 😲. Did you know that?

To take them to the next level, we dip them in some decadent Belgian chocolate, before coating them in some freshly toasted desiccated coconut.

A very nostalgic Scottish sweet treat, that until you bite into them you forget just how good they actually are!

The idea and inspiration to bring these to this year's Christmas market menu came from none other than Ali Stoner whose recipe has worked an absolute treat (pun intended 😉).

💫 WE'LL BE THERE, WILL YOU? 💫

If you haven't already heard, the amazing Christmas market hosted and organised by is back again. This year even bigger and better, and a new location just along the road.

Christmas in the Tattie Barn - a Christmas Market like no other nearGlenfarg, Perthshire on the 7th and 8th of December.

With exceptionalshopping and over 60 stands per day of the best Scottish smallbusinesses, including farmers, food producers, crafters, artists and so
much more. This is an event where you can shop till you drop but alsoenjoy some amazing experiences. It’s an ideal event to bring kids to, withanimals available to see, storytelling, face painting, pre-bookable artactivities, Santa (although tickets are selling fast), photography forfamilies, live calligraphy on ceramic baubles and so much more.

BIRTHDAY BLUES 💙

Denitsa got in touch with me to organise a cake for her husband's birthday celebrations whilst they were recently staying at .

A contemporary blue colour palette, loaded with fresh blackberries, blueberries and chocolates was the theme for the occasion.

Underneath all the decorations were layers of rich chocolate stout cake filled with tangy raspberry preserve and a creamy Belgian white chocolate buttercream 😋

Availability for celebration cake orders is now limited for the remainder of this year, so don't hesitate to get in touch soon if you're looking to surprise someone special with a delicious cake on their birthday 🎂

CHOCOLATE BROWNIE LOVE 🧡

It's been a busy summer (I know it's almost winter!), and I've missed a whole lot of brownie updates as the weeks and months have gone by, but thanks for keeping me busy with your continued love of chocolate brownies!

You'll always find a selection of Little Birnam Kitchen brownies stocked in Dunkeld and Inchture every week, and you can also get a little chocolate brownie fix at where a featured flavour is stocked each week too.

FOR SANDRA 🎂🍋💛

This light and fruity creation was ordered for Sandra celebrating her 60th birthday back in August.

Decorated in pale yellow with slices of lemon giving a nod to the flavour inside this delicious cake 🍋💛

Layers of natural lemon flavoured yoghurt based sponge for an especially light and fluffy cake, filled with lashings of homemade zesty lemon curd and a light lemon buttercream.

Perfect for a summer celebration, but delicious at any time of the year - that's why this flavour stays on our menu all year round!

Hands up if you're a lemon cake lover✋🏻

FOR ANGELA 🎂🩷💛

Back at the start of August, Angela was celebrating her 50th birthday and got in touch to organise some cakes for her joint birthday party shared with her friend.

Angela first said she absolutely loves battenberg, but understood it probably wasn't possible, so was happy to settle with vanilla flavour. Not one to shy from a challenge or to disappoint, I got my cake maker's thinking cap on to contemplate how I could turn the traditional battenberg loaf cake into a layered celebration cake.

The result was an almond marzipan decorated cake with a simple but elegant finish (Angela definitely didn't want to pass on the essential component of marzipan), with the nostalgic pink 🩷 and yellow 💛 giving a nod to what might be on the inside. Once cut open, a colourful chequerboard of pink vanilla and yellow almond sponges, moistened and layered together with apricot jam, would be revealed.

I must admit, despite my planning and careful calculations and carving, I was still a little bit nervous about whether it would all work as planned - there was no way for me to see the finished effect until the cake was being cut into 😱.

I was delighted when Angela sent me her photos (swipe to see them) to say that the battenberg was "amazing" and that everyone loved all the cakes (I'll share the rest on another installment 😉

Mission accomplished, and I even had some inspiration and ideas for another possible cake range.
