Loved making this cake although with the heat I think it was the fastest cake I’ve ever decorated! Buttercream and chocolate decorations do not mix with 34degree heat and no air conditioning!

Trying new flavours is something I love! So when I was asked to do Black Forest cupcakes I couldn’t resist!

Using my chocolate cupcake base I added glacé morello cherries and then filled the cupcakes with a morello cherry jam, finishing with my classic vanilla buttercream more cherry jam and sprinkle of dark chocolate shavings!

Result - Yum 😋

When you try something new using inspiration from the amazing thecoffeehousenutley honey iced latte and of course the only coffee anyone should be drinking Moresso Coffee Roasters

Signature blend coffee sponge, with a honey buttercream with extra honey and finished off with a sprinkling of coffee beans!

This cake had me questioning all my life choices as a baker, not because it was a difficult design but because trying to ice and decorate a buttercream cake on the hottest day of the year (maybe on record) is not fun in the slightest!

My kitchen was ready 29.5 degrees and the buttercream was melting faster than I could get it onto the cake! But we got there in the end and this simple beauty was created for my niece!

An absolute honour and pleasure to make you your first bespoke birthday cake!

And thank you for being my two tiered guinea pig! Was nerve racking getting it stacked and decorated on site especially in the heat but I did and it held up and didn’t collapse so winning!!

And what better theme than cowgirl and flowers!!

Nothing quite beats that final buttercream layer before adding all the decorations!

Drips, macarons, piping, flowers, foliage, ribbons and cowboy hats all to be added tomorrow (not all on the same cake)

But for now it’s time to sleep 💤
