Based in Chiswick, but regularly travels to Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset. Tom grew up in Wiltshire and Bath, and developed an interest in baking from a young age.

Tom's Cake Company is a small imaginative cake company now focused on making traditional afternoon teas for delivery at weekends in West London, having previously made wedding cakes. Afternoon tea costs £15-20 per person, depending on the menu, and

includes finger sandwiches, scones, a selection of cakes, and your choice of tea. 20% of proceeds go to charity, so far we have raised over £600 for local charities in West London. Our previous focus was on producing wedding cakes and bespoke bakes, and we do still take orders for these. All our cakes are made for the individual, and are uniquely personalised to your tastes and requirements. His first job was working the Michelin starred Bath Priory Kitchen. Tom completed a BA (Hons) degree in Entrepreneurship in Hospitality at the University of Brighton’s School of Service Management and since graduating has worked in catering. His passion and desire to establish his own cake company has led him to complete numerous courses to further his skills. Tom aims to create unique, personal and memorable cake for your occasion. When not baking, Tom can be found on his motorbike.

It may be a month since we last posted, and over a month since we last delivered any afternoon teas… but we’re thinking ahead to the summer and our plan to serve afternoon teas at private events, garden parties etc. We have vintage crockery, cake stands, an urn for tea. Would love to hear any thoughts, questions or tips as we prepare for this next step - please do comment 👇

We’re also preparing for our upcoming civil partnership in Bath where we’ll be making afternoon tea ourselves for our families, and making good use of our collection of vintage crockery!

It's our one-year anniversary of our first ever afternoon teas! What a year to reflect on...
In that time, we've served over 400 afternoon teas, more than 25 boxes of scones, plus biscuit decorating kits and Christmas cakes.
This was over about 43 different days, in every month of the last year.

We've raised £1337 for 14 different charities, the majority of which are working locally in West London. We are really proud to have contributed to their work and have enjoyed looking into local causes.

We've learned so much in that time! How to use Instagram (though more to learn!), how to take good photos of food, plenty of new recipes and menu combinations, how to scale up for occasions like Valentine's and Mother's Day, and all about our local areas.

This has been alongside working in our non-baking jobs, which for both of us have got increasingly busy recently.

We don't currently have a plan for when we're next baking - as expected demand for home delivery has decreased as lockdown lifts and other businesses re-open and customers venture out. We're currently focusing our energies on our postponed civil partnership (including baking!), and on planning for providing bespoke afternoon teas for events such as garden parties and wedding receptions - we're really excited about this new venture.

Last time we did rhubarb and custard it was in these delightful little tarts, and this weekend it’s making a comeback as a rhubarb and custard blondie. For those who haven’t yet tried the delights of blondies, they’re like brownies but with white chocolate. This fabulous colour is entirely natural… it might be less vibrant inside a blondie but won’t be any less delicious!

We still have afternoon tea boxes available this Sunday, £15 per person.

We’re celebrating the rule of 6 and the great British picnic (🤞 the weather holds out!) with our special offer of 6 for the price of 5 afternoon teas.

We are back with afternoon tea delivery next Sunday! We present a delightful menu of traditional afternoon tea: finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and cakes including the classic favourite Victoria sponge and an exciting new rhubarb and custard blondie, as well as a chocolate and almond tart.
It’s £15 per person, and many reviews have called our portions “very generous”. We’re continuing to donate 20% of proceeds to Action West London charity.

We deliver with no charge to W3, W4, W5, W6, W12, W13, W14, SW14, TW8, TW9, and parts of W7, 11.30-2.30pm, or collection from W4 1AG 11-11.15 or 2.45-3.30pm. Deliveries to other areas may be considered, please contact us. If you’re meeting with friends for a picnic, we can arrange to deliver to you at a meeting point at your chosen local park or other picnic spot. Our afternoon teas are easily portable: boxes inside sturdy paper bags.

We’ve been lying low for a little while because, as has happened previously when lockdowns have started to lift, we find fewer people want home delivery of treats, and are excited to go out. Given the difficulties that local businesses and cafés that can’t deliver have been facing, we don’t want to discourage people from going out! Additionally, our non-baking jobs have been getting much busier and it was good to have a break from baking, as well as see more of our families now that’s allowed. But we don’t want people to forget about us, or for our customers who want afternoon tea delivered to think we’ve forgotten about them, so we’re back! We’re just finalising an afternoon tea menu for Sunday 16th May and will announce it soon.

We’re also wondering how best to continue to appeal to customers after lockdown lifts, and what we should do differently... perhaps we should deliver afternoon tea to local parks or other places where people meet for picnics?
Additionally we’re still planning to bring afternoon tea to events (garden parties, weddings, birthdays etc) with our urn for tea, and our beautiful vintage crockery.

We’d love to hear some feedback - if you’ve enjoyed our afternoon teas or would thinking about ordering in future, what would you like us to do? We’re very open to ideas!

Afternoon tea box from this past weekend, featuring slices of caramel cake, raspberry chocolate brownies, and blueberry and vanilla mascarpone tarts. With, of course, scones and jam - one fruit scone and one plain scone per person, and the clotted cream is hiding underneath the tub of loose leaf tea!
The sandwiches aren’t in this picture; for an afternoon tea for two, the cakes and scones are in the box and the sandwiches in a separate airtight container (to keep the sourdough bread as fresh as possible). They all come in the same bag, with serviettes.

We are once again delighting your doorsteps with boxes of favourite treats. Our scones have been described as “fantastic” and caramel cake as “incredible”. At a standard price of £15 per person, for 6 finger sandwiches, two scones with generous servings of clotted cream and jam, caramel cake, chocolate raspberry brownie and blueberry tart, plus tea of your choice, grab yourself some tasty good value. You can even take your afternoon tea boxes on a rule-of-6 picnic!
