Hi guys,

It’s with a heavy heart I am closing the Retro Baker.
As some of you know, I run another business which was unable to trade during the pandemic restrictions. Now that this business has resumed in full swing, I am hanging up my oven gloves!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who purchased puds over this time.

An iconic London dish, Tottenham cake was invented by Quakers who lived in north London, having moved away from the distractions of the inner city. First sold by Quaker Henry Chalkley, from 1901, Tottenham cake was available for one old penny per cube, with smaller, misshapen offcuts available for half the price.
