VT Stoneware

I’ve been crafting pottery for over 45 years in Rupert, Vermont. At a young age, I became close friends with a new neighbor who was a skilled potter. I bartered chores for lessons. She taught me how to make glazes and she taught me how to throw. I must have thrown a thousand pots before she let me keep just one.

Through the years, I focused my attention on high-fire reduction, which oxidizes the iron in the clay producing a rustic stoneware look. I highlight earthy tones and shades, a true reflection of the love I have for my home in Manchester, Vermont.

Once my three kids were grown and out of the house, I built my own kiln with the help of my husband. My pieces are a product of whatever inspiration strikes each time I throw on my wheel. No two pieces are exactly the same, and I make pieces in small batches. Long-time favorites are carefully crafted piggy banks, wine goblets, and beer steins along with staples like bowls, mugs, and vases. My stoneware is equally at home on a shelf display, in the oven as a baking dish, or as a compliment to a dining set.

You will find me and my art at various craft shows and farmer’s markets throughout the Green Mountain State. I am a regular vendor at the Essex Craft Show in the Spring and Fall and the Underhill Harvest Market.
