We hope all of our local families are well and safe during this difficult time. We are aware families may be facing more strain then ever and we would love to be able to help with birthday cakes at this time, unfortunately we cannot risk the safety of both our volunteers and the families by using contact deliveries. However, we do have a very modest donation pot, available for a small supermarket voucher which you can use for a birthday cake. If you are struggling, You can ask any local family service to refer you by just giving them our contact details and asking them to refer you. We can be reached at [email protected] or 07402172958.

Look out soon for a name change and some other exciting changes, just as soon as its safe to do so!

You have won £50 tesco vouchers each.

Please pm us to arrange pick up. We may be able to deliver location depending. We are out this morning but vouchers should be ready to collect from lunchtime if needed.

we are super sad we can't gift everyone who entered a voucher but please remember we are here if you need help with your children's birthday cakes, you can pm or email us.

We wish you all a warm and wonderful Christmas. In the new year we hope to bring in some new changes so we can offer even more to local families to help make the best birthday memories.

We would Love to be able to gift everyone vouchers, but the best we can do is remind people that if you are struggling to provide a birthday cake for your child at this time of year, please get in touch, we may be able to help. We also have a few birthday party items in a donation box (balloons, banners etc) you can look through.

After some pretty disappointing election results, it's been so inspiring to come onto social media and see so many local and nationwide people with very little to give, turning their sad feelings into something positive by pledging to help someone vulnerable by donating to a charity or volunteering.

In this spirit, I would also like to turn sad feelings into something positive for someone else

due to a generous donation we have a £25 tesco voucher to give away.

We have decided to double the value of that donation by adding funds from our donation pot, and we would really like to be able to give a family £50 worth of tesco shopping vouchers, maybe to go toward food and treats for christmas.

If you are feeling the strain of Christmas please feel free to nominate your own family in the comments, OR if you know a family you think deserve the vouchers, that need a pick me up or some Xmas treats, please nominate them by tagging them in the comments.

We are currently undergoing some big positive changes here at Free Cakes North Devon we might be quiet on the cake front for a while whilst we are busy behind the scenes. This will include a name change, amongst other exciting things! Keep your eyes peeled for our next posts!

Got a big thankyou to our volunteer Judith who worked so hard to donate so much cake last week!

The first cake went to a special 6 year old girl, who had not had the opportunity to have a birthday celebration before.

Her cupcakes went towards a family fundraiser in south molton where family and friends raised £931.40 for Karina, and for Cancer research UK.

We really hope both cakes were enjoyed and made everyone smile!

Amazing cake from new volunteer Myka and a toy donation from a lovely family, the cost of this cake was also kindly donated by Wooda Surgery in Bideford! Isn't it cool! We even managed to get hold of some dairy free cakes so a sibling could join in the celebrations 😊 we hope the family had a lovely day! 💙

Two awesome cakes have gone out this week, one by our volunteer Kimberly for period project-north Devon who help supply local communities with free period products for young women and girls, check out those teeny tiny cupcake tampons! Such an important project ❤️ Kimberly puts so much love and thought into these cakes! And another for our lovely Evin who we have been supplying a Mario cake to every year for a while now! Don't forget, if your circumstances remain the same, you can apply every birthday! We adore making cakes for him and it wouldn't be the same without a yearly Mario request! This was made by our volunteer Judith, her first donation to the project, and I think it's amazing!

WHAT WE DO:

We offer free birthday cakes to local children facing difficult circumstances, this could be anything, from homes with money troubles, serious illness, maybe they are a young carer, or face challenges every day with disabilities, maybe a sibling has been in hospital. If a child is in need or a family has had a tough time, and parent or carer needs a weight lifted, we are here to try and help. Just ask, or you can ask a local service you use to be referee and organise it for you.

We can sometimes also supply local children focused services or groups/schools with fundraising cakes. Again we are open to enquiries 💙

LOOKING FOR HELP- I would like to raise a little bit of money for our Free Cakes for Kids service, specifically so we can buy reusable kids party ware that we can loan out to families in need, not only reducing the cost of the celebrations for them and lifting a little of that weight, but also combatting the problem of party waste by avoiding buying single use plastic and paper party items. (I'll even take the items back unwashed so you still won't have to wash up!)

I would love to run a small Facebook raffle/auction just to cover a little of the cost, if any local businesses have anything they could donate id be extremely grateful as would the families we provide to!

Would it be useful to our families if we invested in purchasing themed reusable party wear? That you could hire for a very small deposit (under £5) not only would this reduce waste, but would be a more affordable party wear option for you! Let me know what you think!
