Remembering Patricia (Pattie) Biden

British Eventing is saddened to remember Pattie Biden, a much-loved and respected member of the eventing community who dedicated her life to the sport.

Best known for her involvement in organising the Gatcombe Park Horse Trials for almost three decades, Pattie also played an instrumental role in establishing the British Eventing Organisers' Association and was a highly respected BE Steward and Regional Director.

Known for her warmth, generosity, infectious smile and tireless dedication, Pattie leaves a lasting legacy in the sport she loved.

Jan Cottam pays tribute to Pattie's remarkable contribution to eventing and the many lives she touched along the way.

We are thrilled to be supporting the Organisers at The Bicton October International Horse Trials with an enhanced owner rider prize pot.

Due to the high number of entries in the Section, it will need to be split. The EHOA have agreed to double the original prize money pledged.

The winner will go home with an additional £200 with prize money going down to 6th.

In addition to this prize money the EHOA have agreed to pay an additional £100 to any owner/rider that wins an EHOA prize if they are a paid up EHOA members before starting their dressage test.

All owner riders entered in the BE90 3DE will be eligible, you do not need to be a member of the EHOA just registered with BE as the sole owner rider.

Alex Wakeley (Chair EHOA) commented, “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting Helen West at Bicton International for the BE90 Sections. The EHOA are doing this to support owner riders at the Grassroots of the sport, BE members have often thought the EHOA was only for owners of elite horses which is not the case. Good luck to everyone and see you there.”

Sad news. Thank you team Swalcliffe Park Equestrian for your effort.

Swalcliffe Park October Event Cancelled

It is with great disappointment that Swalcliffe Park Equestrian has made the difficult decision to cancel its forthcoming October event due to insufficient entries.

The organising team had done everything possible to give the event the best chance of running, including postponing the ballot date and removing the post-ballot entry fee to allow more time for entries to come forward without riders incurring an additional cost.

Unfortunately, despite holding on for as long as possible in the hope that numbers would increase, entries have not reached the level required to make the event financially viable.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who entered and supported the event, as well as those who have worked behind the scenes in preparation for October. They are incredibly grateful for your understanding and continued support.

Anyone who re-routes within three days of the event being cancelled, and to an event taking place within two weeks of the original event date, will be able to claim a refund of the additional post-ballot fee, if one has been charged. To claim this please email [email protected] with details of your original entry and the event you have re-routed to, please ensure this is done prior to competing at the rerouted event.
