Today the winners were announced : My homemade granola earned 2 stars at the Great Taste Awards! ⭐️⭐️
It started in my kitchen with simple ingredients and a brown paper bag. Now, the judges love it too.
Huge thanks for all your continuous support. 💜

Today was a busy day preparing for double market this weekend.
I loved listening to the news today about reduced cervical cancer in under 30s - due to cancer research.

Normally when you hear the word cancer that fills you with fear and sadness but Cancer Research is changing that to hope too.
So many futures can be changed due to cancer research.

There are 1000s of Cancer research projects happening at any one time. All to aid early detection and prognosis. I am on a trial to consider if cancer can be detected early from a blood test and then treated.
My immunotherapy treatment has been available for melanomas for the last 12 years. Research is always changing and contributing to better outcomes. Also during my immunotherapy the way the treatment is administered changed. This is why I think cancer research is such a worth while charity - it is rapidly making a difference to so many people’s future.

For as long as I can remember I was obsessed with having a tan, I absolutely believed I looked better with a tan and I would chase this at every opportunity. In my late teens I began sun beds - as a student we hired one and had one in our kitchen!!! Can you believe at my second surgery I met a man having the same procedure as me and his job 20 years previously was to rent and deliver sun beds to homes!!
I thought I was invincible - I knew about skin cancer but not about how horrendous it can be. Since I’ve started my melanoma journey I’ve known more people dying rather than surviving.

I was even on Jeremy Vine the other day. My first sentence was ‘I couldn’t disagree more’. There is no safe sun bed use. Of course some factors increase your risk of skin cancers - skin tone, extent of use, skin exposure and burning as a child but imo sun beds should be illegal.
If you ever think I look brown it will be fake. Fake tan and 50SPF are my daily staples. And the night before a holiday I will be busy fake tanning. Alongside my daughter.

We’ve got a big week coming up in our house.
I’ve got a double market weekend (Saturday Beeston and Sunday West Bridgford).
My son Sam is running the 10km race for life. Which also coincides with my final immunotherapy. I’m going to take the next few days to talk about this in a bit more detail as I take some time to process.

In February 2025 I visited the GP with an ugly mole, I was referred to dermatology, then I had this removed this all happened very fast. This confirmed that it was a 2b melanoma skin cancer and I would need a further precautionary wider area removed and then 9 treatments of immunotherapy for the following year. (Let me know if you want photos)
Whilst I acknowledge it’s not over and I have many years of checks/scans and appointments I want to mark this moment for what it is.
Not a celebration but a moment
Keep checking for more of the story as the week goes on

I will put a link in my bio if you want to donate to Sam’s race for life fund.

Not the most obvious holiday spot, but definitely one of our favorites. A perfect family birthday trip filled with eating, drinking, and soaking up the culture. Until next time, Belgium! 🇧🇪🥂

Same same but different!

Discovered a cheeky note when I popped to the post office with my market pennies.
Check your pockets everyone….
