A Lotte of Cake Customised cakes for every occasion

24/10/2017

So that’s it, I have made my last customer cake, I’ve hung up my apron and A Lotte of Cake is now officially closed. I know I said all of my thank yous back in May when I announced my cake retirement but I do just want to say a final general thank you so much to you all for your support over the years. I’m loving my new venture as owner of No 1, the homeware and gift shop on Wendover High Street; do pop in to say hello if you’re passing. Much love, Claire ###

This cake was made to celebrate the marriage of Kerry and Jon, the theme of whose day was vintage, hessian and wooden hearts. There was a vanilla, chocolate and lemon tier with matching buttercreams and the cake was decorated with edible lace and sugarpaste flowers.

This naked cake adorned with fresh flowers and summer berries was made for the wedding of Caron and Jimmy which took place at Fawley Hill near Henley, a wonderfully quirky estate featuring a restored Victorian railway and a traditional carousel. The tiers were lemon sponge with lemon buttercream, vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream and fresh strawberries and coconut sponge with lime buttercream.

My daughter Florence was lucky enough to have her birthday on holiday this year. I was very short of time before we went away so I needed to make something quite simple that would survive a trip along the motorway. This unicorn cake design is all over the internet at the moment and I’m afraid I don’t know who to credit for coming up with it in the first place but I enjoyed making it and Florence loved it.

Just a few more cakes for me to make now. This was for the wedding of my lovely friends Kerry and Jay who love a bit of sparkle. Tiers of lemon, vanilla and chocolate with matching buttercreams gave a great choice for their guests.

It is with a heavy heart I announce that I’m hanging up my apron and will no longer be making cakes. I have a few final orders over the summer so I won’t be shutting just yet but I’m now not taking any new orders.

I am so grateful to everyone that has helped to make my business a success and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has ever liked, shared or commented on my page. Thank you to those loyal friends who have liked pretty much every picture I have ever posted. Thank you also to everyone who recommended my cakes to others - word of mouth is a powerful thing and I have been truly amazed at just how busy I have been as a result of it.

The biggest thank you I need to say is to all of my customers who trusted me to make cakes for their special occasions, it truly was an honour and thank you for requesting such a variety of wonderful themes which kept it interesting and challenging right to the end.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the past six years and it has allowed me the flexibility to be at home with my two daughters but as my youngest will be starting school in September, I feel it is the right time to move on. I have an exciting opportunity ahead; I am the proud new owner of Number One Wendover, a gorgeous homeware and gift shop – if you ever find yourself on Wendover High Street, please do come in and say hello.

Thank you again so much for your support.

With very best wishes

Claire

I loved making this birdcage wedding cake for Angie and Damian who celebrated their marriage at The Tythe Barn near Long Crendon. It fitted in perfectly with their colour scheme of deep red, cream, cappuccino and gold.

My daughter Charlotte turns 7 this week and she requested a princess carriage for her birthday cake. I hadn't made one before so I gladly accepted the challenge. She loved it and the delighted look on her face when she saw it will stay with me for a long time.

Ethan loves watching Teletubbies so his mum chose this as the theme for his 2nd birthday cake. The figures are plastic so he could play with them once the cake was eaten and the house is made from Rice Krispies and marshmallows.
