Wagtail Wheelers

Wagtail Wheelers Average life expectancy with a GBM, from diagnosis, is a mere 14 months. There is no cure. No donations are used on salaries for anyone associated with Headcase.

The Wagtail Wheelers -a group of amateur cyclists taking on challenges to raise awareness and funds for charities close to our hearts: Coast2Coast for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, The Way of The Roses for Breast Cancer Care and our latest for Sarcoma UK The Wagtail Wheelers are once again undertaking a cycling challenge, this time to raise money, and awareness, for Headcase Cancer Trust http://www.

headcase.org.uk/ …… the only Charity in the UK that dedicates its funding solely to research into finding a cure for Glioblastoma Multiforme [GBM] brain tumours. Glioblastoma multiforme [GBM] is the most common and most aggressive malignantprimary brain tumour killing around 5000 people each year in the UK [5 times more than all the other 130 types of brain tumour put together]. Brain tumours as a whole receive just 1.4% of total cancer spend in the UK. My mum was diagnosed with this type of brain tumour in September 2013 and underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Sadly, she died in November 2014 after a brave fight against this incurable condition. On the weekend of 2 May 2015, 14 ladies from The Wagtail Wheelers will be cycling from Newcastle to Edinburgh – a total of 180 miles. This will be our most demanding challenge to date as we will be cycling an average of 60 miles a day. Fortunately we will be accompanied by our fantastic directeur sportif, support driver and baker extraordinaire Tracy! We aim to try and raise as much money as possible for the charity to hopefully, at some point in the future, cure this type of tumour – and to prevent other people having to endure this horrible disease. Every single one of us funds our own transport, food and overnight costs during the event and Headcase itself is run on an entirely voluntary basis. This means that your donations and our fundraising will be going to where it matters most.
• Therefore on behalf Headcase, The Wagtail Wheelers and my mum, please dig deep and sponsor us, whatever you feel you can give.
• Thank you

Well done Wagtail Wheelers and well done to everyone who made it happen! 💖🚲👍

Thank you to everyone who came to the Sarcoma fundraiser at Arkholme Village Hall on Saturday night in memory of Trina. With ticket sales, raffle, auction, bar takings, donations and the Wagtail Wheelers JustGiving page, over £10,000 pounds has been raised and paid to Sarcoma UK. The final figure will definitely be higher than that once the rest of the sponsor money and auction money is collected.

A BIG thank you too to everyone involved in printing & delivering flyers, selling tickets, cooking food, donating prizes and auction items, cycling from Gretna Green to Arkholme Village Green, setting up and clearing up etc. etc. It took a lot of planning and a lot of effort by a lot of people but it paid off. It was a great night with a HUGE amount of money raised for a very worthy cause.

It's not too late to donate, just copy and paste the link below to visit the Wagtail Wheelers JustGiving page:

I think there's no doubt that we did Trina proud 💖

Dear Louise

It’s almost time! On behalf of us all here at Sarcoma UK, I want to wish you the best of luck for your cycling event starting on Thursday.

We also want to thank you and your supporters for your kindness and generosity. The £814 already raised on your giving page in memory of Trina will make a world of difference, transforming the lives of people affected by sarcoma.

With your help, we are investing over half a million pounds into sarcoma research this year. This is taking the sarcoma community one step closer to finding an effective treatment for the disease within the next 10 years. You can check out the ground-breaking studies you are already helping to fund on our website: sarcoma.org.uk/research/funded-research-projects

Please send in any pictures, or share on Facebook and Twitter – we’d love to hear how your challenge went!

Good luck – we’re all behind you!

Best wishes

Emma
