A quick little life update: I haven’t been posting because I really haven’t been baking. I think I baked so much in the last few years that my love for it faded. I also had surgery last summer that forever changed me (mentally and physically) and I’m just starting to feel like myself again. The baking itch is starting to creep up a bit so l made my favourites yesterday: bread (obviously) and pizza (again, obviously lol but that crust was something else!). I see a flower in my bread crumb so maybe it symbolizes new beginnings? Who knows?! Don’t be surprised if I announce a pop up sale soon! Xo

Paris has set the croissant bar very high and I’m sure I can’t find any croissants like these in Canada. I guess I’ll need to learn how to make them. Also, I need to import 100lbs of Normandy butter. (Last pic is not a croissant but too pretty not to include.)

Anyone else food prepping for the new school year? I had surgery 6 weeks ago and I’m still not 💯 and since I’m not a morning person, I need to make my life much easier in the coming weeks.

These are sourdough waffles made with oat flour (50%), protein powder, protein milk, Greek yogurt, homemade buttermilk and chia seeds. So I won’t feel bad giving these for breakfast or school lunches.

If you don’t have a waffle maker, borrow one from a friend like I did. Thank you !

It was my first time making cake with sourdough, and now I don’t think I can make cakes any other way. This one was made for our dear friend, (I’ve been making his cakes for the last few years - oh to be 33 again!). It’s a lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting. Perfect for a (rainy) summer night. Of course my mini-me helped to decorate it!

Even though I’m currently not selling my bread, apparently I’m still baking like I am just to sustain our family’s break...

Even though I’m currently not selling my bread, apparently I’m still baking like I am just to sustain our family’s breakfast needs (I do freeze them!). I definitely prefer a darker baked bread, kids prefer lighter, so I do both. Which do you prefer?

Did you know that focaccia makes *the* best sandwiches? I highly recommend you try it. This is hands down the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I’ve been shouting it from the rooftops, that’s how good it is.

P.S. arugula pesto is my new favourite condiment.

We’re ending the year with a fondue night. I wanted to wish every one of you a Happy New Year. It’s been quite the year for us (challenging in many ways!) but I know that everything happens for a reason. I count my blessings and know that I’m lucky in so many ways.

Every end marks a new beginning. Let’s make 2023 count. Cheers!!

Is there something you could eat every day and not mind? For me, it’s this. My hearty miso mushroom broth (leftover from last night’s ramen), eggplant-chipotle sofrito ( recipe) which I added to the broth for heat (AND an extra scoop on my plate because it’s that delicious…that oil 🤤), a perfectly ripe avocado (thank you avocado gods 🙏🏼) and of course my multigrain sourdough bread (because I’m Greek and bread is a requirement).

It’s been a minute since I made a batch of bread. It’s Thanksgiving weekend here so I had to make these cute pumpkins for our dinner tonight. Who knew cheese and jalapeño bread can look so pretty!

I apologize to all who requested bread this weekend and I couldn’t deliver - some life circumstances are preventing me from starting back up again.

Leftover dough from our pizza party last night turned into an impromptu bread for tonight’s dinner. I didn’t even bother shaping or proofing it in a basket.

Truth be told, it’s the first bread I’ve baked in months! Between my back/shoulder injury and our kitchen reno, I’ve never felt an urge to make any. PTSD? 😆
