A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO CHOOSING A KITCHEN FAUCET FOR HOME USE
The kitchen faucet is the most frequently used hardware at home. It is used dozens of times a day for washing vegetables, dishes, and fetching water. A poor choice will bring troubles such as water leakage, rust, and splashing water for years. The core of choosing one for home use lies in three points: durability, practicality, and easy maintenance. There is no need to pursue appearance or gimmicks. Grasp the following key points, and you can easily choose a model suitable for the whole family.
First, look at the material—health and durability are the bottom line. For home use, prioritize 59-copper or 304 stainless steel: 59-copper has inherent antibacterial properties; make sure the copper content is above 59%, the surface chrome plating layer is ≥8 microns, and it is qualified if there are no scratches when scratched lightly with a key and it feels heavy. 304 stainless steel is lead-free, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean, making it suitable for families that value water quality health. Remember to look for the food-grade stamp. Avoid zinc alloy at all costs—it is prone to corrosion and water leakage, which is cheap in the short term but costly in the long run.
Second, focus on the core—the valve core determines the service life. The valve core is the "heart" of the faucet. For home use, ceramic valve cores are a must. They are wear-resistant and high-temperature resistant, with an opening and closing life of more than 500,000 times. If you switch it on and off 30 times a day, it can be used for 40 years. A high-quality one should rotate at a constant speed without resistance or jamming. Inferior plastic valve cores are prone to wear and water leakage after half a year, so be sure to avoid them.
Finally, look at the functions—adapting to daily home needs is the most important. The pull-out type is a home necessity. With a pull-out length of 60-80cm and 360° rotation, it can easily clean the dead corners of the sink and directly rinse fruits and vegetables. For the pull-out tube, choose the steel wire braided type, and it is better if it has a gravity ball for automatic reset. There should be at least two water outlet modes: bubble water for water saving when fetching water, and spray water for strong flushing, meeting different scenarios such as vegetable washing and pot cleaning.
Additional reminders: Choose chrome-plated or brushed surface technology, which is oil-resistant and easy to clean—just wipe it with a cloth. In terms of budget, you can buy a cost-effective model with 304 stainless steel and a domestic ceramic valve core for 200-500 yuan. Domestic well-known brands such as Jiumu and Arrow have more guaranteed after-sales service. There is no need to pursue high-end functions; fitting the usage habits of the whole family, being durable and easy to operate is the best solution for a home kitchen faucet.
