About Us...
The Lazy Cat Cafe is a monthly open stage at the Bain Cooperative Apartments Community Centre. It has been running since the '90s on the last Sunday of each month, excluding July, August, and December. Performers sign up at the location to sing a 10 minute set on the open stage. A 25 minute performance by a featured musician is booked in advance for each month. Coffee, tea and home baking from the coop members is available for a minimum $2 donation which goes toward helping sustain the open stage. The Lazy Cat boasts a 16 channel mixing board with monitors, mics, a D.I. box, and a dedicated sound person for the afternoon. It offers an excellent training venue toward stage experience. We host diverse styles of music and levels of playing ability, from seasoned professional musicians like Mose Scarlett and David Newland to first time performers including youngsters from the coop. The audience is attentive and encouraging. Bring flyers, business cards, announcements or CDs for the "Community Table". There is an arts/crafts table for the children, coffee, snacks, natural light, and good times. Upcoming Features:
Feb. 26, '17 Barb Pearson
Mar. 26, '17 Jack & Anita
Apr. 30, '17 Anne Moffatt

Linda's Top Performance Tips;
1 - Memorize; reading and music stands are barriers to connecting with audience
2 - Watch your time; time is limited, talk is overrated
3 - Eye contact; sing to your audience
4 - Project; show your voice and your character through your music; show it right to the back of the room
