What an incredible evening we had at the Trades Appreciation BBQ! On behalf of the STEHBA, thank you to everyone who attended, supported, sponsored, and helped make this event such a success.

It was wonderful to see so many builders, trades, suppliers, industry partners, and community leaders come together to celebrate the people who help build our communities every day. The evening was filled with great food, meaningful conversations, well-deserved recognition, and a strong sense of appreciation for the skilled professionals who keep our industry moving forward.

We were also proud to recognize this year’s scholarship recipients and celebrate the next generation entering the skilled trades. Congratulations again to all of our winners—we look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the industry.

On behalf of STEHBA, Board Chair Jesse Nieman and CEO, Angela DeVries were pleased to participate in Fridays housing roundtable hosted by LSTAR and OREA with Minister Rob Flack.

The discussion brought together housing industry leaders to explore practical solutions that can help increase housing supply, improve affordability, and support responsible growth across Ontario.

STEHBA appreciates the opportunity to bring forward the perspectives of builders, renovators, trades, and housing professionals from St. Thomas and Elgin County, and to be part of meaningful conversations that impact the future of housing in our communities.

By way of OHBA’s Queen’s Park Day, STEHBA had the opportunity to advocate for housing and our local building community through meetings with MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Ministers Kevin Holland, and Rob Flack to discuss issues impacting housing, homebuilding, and growth in our communities. These conversations are an important opportunity to bring forward the perspectives of St. Thomas and Elgin County builders, renovators, trades, and industry partners as we work together to address housing challenges and support responsible growth across our region.

Thank you to these ministers for taking the time to listen and engage in meaningful conversations. Collaboration between government and industry remains essential as we work toward practical solutions that increase housing supply, improve affordability, and help more families achieve the dream of homeownership.
