Went and checked the bees today that are inside the bee house for the winter.

Been extracting honey the last few days. After I extract I put the empty supers outside for the bees to clean up. They love it. A month ago it wasn’t looking good for honey but the bees have managed to gather a bit in September. If you want some honey let us know.

Last night I got a text about a swarm. Have a look at the video from last night where I went and tried to catch it. So I got many of the bees into a super but they started stinging me too much so I left them there for the night. This evening I went out and took this video. Super happy to catch a swarm. Thanks to those who let me know it was there.

I got a text from a friend tonight that they heard of a swarm in a farm. So I headed out and found this big swarm on a spruce tree. Got stung a bunch but I think that I got most of the bees into a hive. Have to go back tomorrow and see if the queen is in there.

The weather hasn’t been great this spring. You want a warm sunny afternoon to open the hives so that you don’t get stung a bunch. Well I couldn’t wait any longer to open the hives and it was a good thing I checked them today. The hives are doing great despite the poor weather. Maybe the bees know something better is coming and they are preparing.
