Hi, all!
It’s never an easy thing to say goodbye, but the time has come for me to close. Doughbaby Doughnuts began as a creative outlet when I was dealing with some pretty major changes in my life. Baking became a sort of therapy, and being able to express myself creatively and provide treats that were new and exciting was one of my favourite things. I loved attending markets and shows, meeting so many incredible small businesses, and doing fun collaborative projects.

When the pandemic hit, I kept on rolling, doing weekly or monthly menus, and offering a little bit of happiness in such dark times. However, with the pandemic came a realization. It allowed me to refocus on what I want in life and what I want for my family. Running Doughbaby has been a great joy, but it’s also a ton of work. Being a one-woman show meant it was just me doing the baking, recipe creation, inventory, accounting, social media, branding, website, customer service, delivery, etc. To put it bluntly, it was a LOT, and in the vacuum that has been COVID, it began to feel like too much.

I want to thank every customer, every market, and every other small business that has been instrumental in Doughbaby’s success. Over the years, I found myself providing doughnuts for weddings, baby showers, markets, and galas, and sold in 8 different shops around Ottawa. When I say I feel blessed, it is a major understatement.

All this to say that this month will be the final one for Doughbaby, with the exception of one “goodbye” weekend from September 11-12. Thank you all for being amazing. I cannot wait for all the new projects and plans that are on the horizon.
