After an amazing week at CookieCon, there was one stop I had to make on my drive home—Georgia Peach World. Because if you're driving through Georgia during peach season... how could you not? 🍑🚗

Those sweet, Georgia peaches made the journey back to the BakeBoss kitchen, and I knew exactly what to do with them...

It’s wild to think we’ve already slid right into July — like the year hit the gas pedal and forgot to slow down for the BakeBoss Bake Shop household. One minute we were working on end of 2025 orders, and then it was the baby shower, spring orders and welcoming our sweet new grandson.

Life has been full in the best, busiest way. Between family visits, late night baby cuddles, and the everyday swirl of running BakeBoss, the days have been moving fast. And then, somehow, CookieCon was staring me down from the calendar like, “Hey… you ready?” I wasn’t.

Prepping for CookieCon basically became its own season around here — figuring out designs for the Sugar Show and completing them, developing a new cookie flavour and being one of 10 bakers selected for the Tasting Event, baking 900 tasting cookies, organizing supplies, and trying to remember where we put that one tool we swear we just had in our hand and still getting out orders. It was chaotic, it was exciting, it was a little (no, a lot) exhausting, and honestly… it felt like exactly where we were meant to be.

Cookiecon is 900 cookiers gathering for 4 days of hands-on classes and lectures, meeting new cookie friends and seeing old cookie friends from around the world. It is always so much fun, and so tiring, but in the best way. Feedback on my hibiscus lemon sugar cookie from the Tasting Event was great and has been added to our list of available sugar cookie flavours! As usual, I entered several categories in the Sugar Show, not with any expectation to win, but for the experience and the raffle tickets. (I didn’t win anything from the raffle table, oh well). But this year something happened! My entry, in the Black & White category, was selected by one of the instructors as their Instructors Choice. To say I was shocked is an understatement.

So, July came in hot, quite literally but we’re rolling with it. BakeBoss Bake Shop is back on track and ready to take your orders.

As a baker we always want our baked goods to look as good on the outside as they taste on the inside. But sometimes they just don't turn out as we had hoped. This past weekend, our family hosted a baby shower for our first grandchild. Grandiose plans in terms of extras we wanted to include had us up against the clock to get everything completed. The theme was "Tiny Kicks are Coming"...think Nike shoes, shoe boxes, and other related decor. Hand cutting those mini red shoe box favour boxes took us out! It was down to the wire to get the cake finished. While the inside was delicious (red velvet, vanilla buttercream), the outside just didn't meet with my own high standards. Could I have cleaned it up with AI, sure. But rather than hide that, I'm putting it out here to show it does not always turn out how we want. Would I sell that to a customer? Absolutely not. Could I do better if I wasn't rushed and over extended? Definitely! But I knew that it didn't matter to our friends and family, and especially the mom to be. The effort and overall effect is what counted.

The sweet table included vanilla mini cupcakes, sweetbread, chocolate chip cookies, churro toffee white chocolate cookies, fudgy brownies and decorated sugar cookies. As evident by the need to refill all of the platters, these were a hit, especially the churro cookies and chocolate chip cookies!

Was I "extra" by wanting to provide the favour shoe box which included a custom printed thank you cookie and a packet of custom printed Smarties? Absolutely! But the reaction by the mom-to-be and all of the guests made it all worth it.
