Sensitive Woman who left corporate to reimagine herself

For Sensitive Souls who love cake & want a gentler way to live and work

As a highly sensitive person, I’ll tell you a secret about my cakes.
You’ve been asking how they caramelize like that. How they look so magical and they are upside down.
What you see on top, the caramelized fruit, the thing that stops your scroll, was sitting at the bottom the whole time. Hidden. Doing its work quietly in the dark. Only revealing its magic when you have the courage to flip it.
Sound familiar? Because that’s exactly what hypersensitivity feels like.
What looked wrong from the outside. What people called too much, too deep, too intense. What you spent years trying to manage, minimize and apologize for.
Flip it.
And suddenly it’s the most extraordinary thing about you. Your emotional intelligence. Your ability to read a room before anyone else. Your empathy that makes people feel seen and safe.
The most beautiful thing was there all along.
Intuitive baking taught me that. You don’t always know what you’re making until you turn it over. You trust what’s happening underneath even when you can’t see it yet.
That’s Sweet Soul. That’s the HSP way.

Sensitive people are natural active listeners. We pick up what’s underneath the words. We feel the shape of someone’s story before they’ve finished telling it.
Having such an inspiring coffee this morning with Manu reminded me:

Two women. Two stories. A conversation that went exactly where it needed to go. That’s what happens when you actually listen. Not to respond. Not to fix. Just to hear.

You don’t have to explain yourself. You don’t have to translate. You just, recognise each other.

We are not for everyone. But for the ones that are for us, we are everything

When did you last have a conversation that felt like that? Tell me below.

I want to know your honest thoughts👇🏻
Because this has nothing to do with how much money you have. Nothing to do with being wealthy or not. Young or old. Just starting out or decades in.
It’s about something much more fundamental.
The right to not come for free.

Years ago someone sat across from me at lunch. Successful. Busy. Almost no private time. I asked if he ever wanted to slow down.

He looked at me and said without blinking:
I like making money too much.

And I thought, why can’t I say that? Why is it so hard for us, especially as highly sensitive women, to claim that out loud?

I can hear you already.
That sounds greedy. That sounds harsh. That sounds selfish.

But here’s what I want you to sit with. Just because I understand you deeply, just because I feel what you feel before you’ve even named, it doesn’t mean my time has no value. Doesn’t mean my empathy is something I owe you for free. Doesn’t mean sensitive women don’t also know their worth. We do.
Sensitive doesn’t mean selfless.
Empathetic doesn’t mean free.

As women, especially as sensitive women, we are allowed to put ourselves first. We have contracts. We build businesses. We show up fully.
And we like making money too.

Say it with me. And tell me in the comments - why is it so hard? 👇🏻

A little beacon of light for the late summer days that are slowly getting colder. I optimized my citrus cake. No gluten, no dairy, just a little honey. And lots of love and flavour to make everyone’s day shine brighter. I’m in love with the sparkles. Baked intuitively with a lot of soul

Drop your win in the comments. I’ll go first.

We are doing a little experiment today. And I promise it’s worth 30 seconds of your time. Because here’s something I notice in myself and in almost every person I know who is building something.

We are exceptional at seeing what’s left on the list. What’s not done yet. What could be better. What we should have done differently. And completely blind to what we actually achieved.

So today: just one win. Big or small. Professional or deeply personal. Something you did this week that deserves a moment.

Drop it below. Let’s celebrate each other, you sensitive hardworking souls!

If you don’t drink alcohol, perfect, keep it that way. Truly. And if you’re like me, physically and emotionally sensitive and one glass puts you either under or on the table 😆  - this is my little Sunday recommendation. Krontiras Wines Natural Malbec from Mendoza is delicious, a real treat, and light on the body.

One slow sip of something beautiful during the day. A little cake from LOUISE alongside it. And then just...let the day go by.

Not all night. Not to unwind. Just one glass. Fully savoured. That’s enough. That’s everything. Intuitively

A blast from the past that my phone threw at me today. Tokyo in 2014. One could argue that this is maybe where my wanderlust, that silently sat in me, really took off. I also needed a good reason to use this beautiful version of Big in Japan by Ane Brun. As a sensitive soul, as some of you have confirmed recently, travelling does a lot to you. It stimulates, it calms, it opens your nervous system to new sensations, new impressions, new points of views. It makes you more open for the unknown, more tolerant, more curious. It develops your character. It throws surprises at you.

And yes, digging in the past, understanding what made you what you are today is an incredibly important thing. The why it’s a big part of my life.

Happy Saturday everyone, think a little bit about where you want to travel next. It doesn’t have to be far!

This cake looks like an eclipse. Dark blueberry moon. Golden lemon sun. One trying to swallow the other and somehow creating something more beautiful in the tension between them.

It feels to me like Yin and Yang on a plate.
I didn’t plan it that way. Somehow it happened. That’s what intuitive baking does: it mirrors something inside you without asking permission. Sometimes you don’t know what mood you’re baking until you see what comes out of the oven.
Today it came out as an eclipse. Make of that what you will.

Blueberry and lemon. Gluten free. Dairy free. Worry free 🌞🌘
