👻 There’s something spooky in Sage’s Pantry!

Meet our Apple Apparitions! 🍎

These happy little ghosts are made with apples, egg, water and ascorbic acid (which is just vitamin C used to keep the apples from turning brown). No tricks, just treats for your four-legged trick-or-treaters!

Who says Halloween treats are just for humans?

Did you know…Apples contain soluble fibre, including pectin, which can support normal digestive function, polyphenols that may help protect cells from oxidative stress, and small amounts of potassium which supports normal muscle and nerve function.

WISE WOOF WEDNESDAY
Is your dog getting enough beauty sleep? 😴

Adult dogs commonly sleep around 12–14 hours daily, although individual needs vary. Puppies and senior dogs may need even more.
Adequate rest supports physical recovery, learning and general well-being.
Help your dog rest comfortably by maintaining a reasonably consistent daily routine and allowing uninterrupted rest, especially for puppies.

Sage likes to sleep at my feet when I watch tv, or cuddle up with me on the sofa when I read. At night, she likes to sleep between the patio window and the bed. Where's your dog's favourite sleeping spot?

Who says vegetables have to be boring?
This Tuesday Treats recipe is perfect for pups who enjoy a little crunch.
Ingredients:
½ cup finely grated carrot
1 cup plain oat flour
Approximately ¼ cup water
Combine the ingredients, adding water gradually until a workable dough forms.
Roll or pat down thinly, cut into small shapes and bake at 325°F (163°C) for approximately 25–35 minutes, until thoroughly baked.
Cool completely before serving. Refrigerate or freeze leftovers. These treats can also be dehydrated for longer shelf life.
🐾 What's the one vegetable your dog will happily eat?

🇨🇦 Our last post generated several messages asking about whether our business is Canadian owned so I thank those who asked. We love that people are putting more thought into the ingredients going into their food and where those ingredients originate.

Sage’s Pantry is proudly based in Magnetawan, Ontario, where our treats are made in small batches right from our kitchen overlooking beautiful fall foliage and the Magnetawan River.

And what about our ingredients?

The main ingredient in our cookie treats is certified-organic oat flour from Canadian company Yupik, whose oat flour lists Canada among the origins of its oats and is prepared here in Canada.

We try to source Canadian whenever it makes sense — but I can’t promise you that everything in a Sage’s Pantry treat grew on Canadian soil.

As much as I’d love to tell you that our bananas are lovingly grown in our beautiful country, Northern Ontario isn’t exactly famous for its banana plantations. 😂❄️

For ingredients that simply don’t grow here, I choose quality ingredients from elsewhere rather than pretending otherwise.

What I can promise is transparency about what goes into our treats and a commitment to supporting Canadian suppliers whenever practical. Sage is our dog well-loved and she is eating the exact same treats I sell. Well, except for the peanut butter cookies. She doesn’t like peanut butter. She’s a little weird that way!
