This little cake held many details for a 16th birthday girl! I was asked to make a "teenager lazing in bed" cake! To be included were her little black cat, along with her love of reading, sewing and makeup! Oh, and the birthday girl's hair is blonde but sometimes with streaks of blue and pink! Except for the rice krispie treat mattess, it was all fondant details on this vanilla cake, filled and covered with vanilla buttercream!

When I was asked to design a cake that would incorporate some of the lyrics to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, and was given complete creative freedom, I knew what lines I wanted to use and what I would do! The song refers to sailing across the sea, meeting on an island and a flower being placed in the hair of one partner by the other. So I hand "wrote" (painted) those lines on the top, surrounded them in buttercream tropical flowers, and finished the sides with a tropical island vibe featuring hand painted palm trees! I was so pleased with how it all came together!

Another day, another fishing themed cake! All fondant details, except for those sweet reeds! I just had to experiment with melted jolly ranchers, which I typically use for flames or ice...it works for reeds too!! And the kids go crazy for them so that's a bonus!

I just ❤️ a favourite things cake!! For this 70th birthday cake I was asked to include a pair of running shoes, a cruise ship, a blow dryer, a martini glass and this adorable pup, who was I was sent pictures of to be sure I got him just right (the tongue had to be sticking out, just like in all the pictures)! The request also included some buttercream flowers. It was a lot to fit on a little 6" cake but that sort of thing doesn't stop me! Vanilla cake with caramel buttercream filling!

I wasn't exactly sure how I would incorporate pink on the rest of this Pokémon cake, as was requested by the birthday girl, but very happy with how it turned out with the custom sprinkle mix I put together! If you know me you know things must coordinate!

We recently had the honour of celebrating my parents' 60th wedding anniversary! My mom requested a topper to replicate the one on their wedding cake and to include corn flowers, as this is what her bridesmaids carried. The topper was no problem to make but who knew corn flowers aren't around until August!? What else could I do but make them out of buttercream, and now I know how!! The 3 flowers on top represent my sisters and I and the 7 around the cake represent the grandchildren (we're cheesy like that)! Bottom tier vanilla with fresh raspberry buttercream, middle lemon cake with lemon curd filling, and top carrot cake with cream cheese filling. Here's to many more mom and dad! ❤️
