Today, we pause to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

September 30 honours the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. It is also a day to recognize the lasting impacts of the residential school system and the responsibility to keep learning about its history and legacy.

For us, today is a reminder to make space for listening, reflection, and learning from Indigenous voices.

Every Child Matters.

A policy saved in an old folder.

A board document buried in someone’s inbox.

A process that only one person knows how to complete.

For many nonprofits, important operational and governance information is scattered across people, platforms, and files.

That may seem like a small administrative problem, but over time it can lead to:

A strong mission still needs strong support behind it.

Through years of working with nonprofit organizations, Rosalyn Walls saw a pattern: talented people were carrying enormous responsibilities while trying to work around limited capacity, disconnected systems, and processes that were often more reactive than proactive.

Her experience was further shaped through completing her certification in Nonprofit Management at Simon Fraser University, where learning alongside others in the sector gave her even greater insight into the challenges nonprofit teams are navigating.

The same pain points kept surfacing.

Too much time spent rebuilding resources.
Important knowledge living with one person.
Teams responding to the next urgent task instead of having space to plan ahead.
Leaders carrying administrative pressure that takes energy away from the mission.

Those experiences helped shape Olea Connects.

It was created to give nonprofit organizations practical systems, shared knowledge, useful tools, and a more proactive way to manage the work behind the mission.

Because strong organizations should not have to build everything from scratch.
