Sometimes the wind nearly takes your bike out from under you and while you’re debating how this impacts your route (on newly stone chipped roads), a teenager in a jacked up truck does his best to remind you that he could crush you… 🛻

Days like this can be easy to turn around and say nah… I chose instead to talk aloud to myself for the next hour.
The mantra- hard work and heart. Simple. The two things that I need to accomplish my goal in August. I talked about how this wind was perfect prep for PEI and I smelled that island air. I envisioned calling my kids and telling them I that I finished where I wanted to be. I tasted the lobster roll and beer I am going to have sitting by the water with while we celebrated. I thought about looking for the perfect accommodations for worlds. 🌎

I then reminded myself that in order to do those things I needed to put in the work. The ugly work. The training days that don’t include stopping 😆

Heart and hard work… there’s no magic solution or easy fix. It’s these two things. Here’s to us all figuring out what’s worth our heart and hard work in life ❤️

Incoming gushy post about community…💕
This week has been busy. Really busy but as I took some time away on Thursday to reflect, I was overwhelmed with so much gratitude for community and it was all triggered by a random moment. A woman who spoke a different language than I did had a question and we found the answer without words. It was a silly moment I needed because it reminded me that we had created community right there. This reminder was solidified when someone asked my sweet friend in a crowd of women why she’d moved to North Perth and her immediate answer was “why not?”

Our week had a culture fair (shout out to staff and families), games night, chess club, a Darkness to Light walk, a fundraiser for youth literacy, Pride club meetings, Character Run sign ups, amazing conversations with gym members and clients, cookies to support CF fundraising and so many other moments of connection.

This is your reminder of the value community brings and holds. It truly is priceless. Find ways to join it and create it. Encourage your kids to grow in community. We need their energy and ideas… and they need those support networks that allow them to evolve and push them forward!

Keep showing up, being vulnerable and occasionally being gushy about the people around you💕☺️

1. A negative split on my bike ride
2. Hiding the scrape from where I hit myself in the face with my bike 🤕😆🤦🏼‍♀️➡️
3. Pushing me mentally
