I don't often call myself an artist.
Pastry chef, baker, and now small business owner have always felt more natural. But then I look at things like this, the plate of buttercream I was using to create the most beautiful flowers and it makes me think about the kind of artist I get to be.
I get to create delicious masterpieces that never last more than a day. My art is truly temporary.
I spend hours and hours creating for it to be gone in an afternoon. It's a very surreal feeling that is usually forgotten and overshadowed by the excitement of everyone enjoying the dessert being served in front of them.
Would I change it? No, because first where would I keep these hundreds of cakes that I've made lol but 2 I dont think it would feel the same. I'm creating for a moment not for a lifetime, and I feel like it makes a big difference. Creating for a moment helps you live in the moment and cherish the little details that make a difference right now. Not 10 years from now, but right at the exact second that someone sees what you've created.
