Good Evening folks,
Here is another update

Thank you all for your wishes, concerns, and comments about my hand.
All bandaging has been removed since Tuesday and progressively healing very nicely. All tests cultures, samples, and swabs came back as negative.

To this day it is one of those things that is unknown, healing well and life goes on.

So thank you, take care and stay safe.

Update on hand. Many of you have asked me for an update on my hand.
Thank you all for your comments & well wishes.

Seems to be getting better, I was placing my hand in a vinyl glove with Vaseline to soften the hard leathery skin, and yesterday started to notice that the top layer of skin was getting loose so put a simple bandage of Mepore and Vaseline on.

But this has happened today

After removing the Mepore bandage the top layer of the skin is separating from the flesh and cracking. As I always do, I gently wash it once a day with soapy water, the skin and hand are not looking good. So I pack it like I usually do with the Vaseline and this time using a sterilized wound pad with Vaseline on as well. And wrap up the hand again.

Good thing I have contact with my Dr who is observing and keeping an eye on it. Send him pics, he is not happy with what is happening, so, now I have to go to home health wound care to have it taken care of. Back on pain meds as it is burning and painful again.

Will keep you all informed.

Still no cooking and baking for awhile. 😞

Many of you have asked me for an update on my hand. So here it is, it is now a week and the results of my tests have come in. Have included some of the results.

It is not viral, fungal, or bacterial. It is not a chemical burn, nor auto immune, dermatologist does not see it as an allergy reaction.

I was a walking pharmacy until yesterday. With the dermatologist, infectious disease, and my doctor having me on different meds including prednisone for the extreme swelling (that went halfway to my elbow) to antibiotics in case of infection.

This is what my hand looks like last week and today, it is slowly healing. The interesting thing is that the blisters never did weep or pop they just decreased and disappeared.
My hand no longer burns but is constantly itchy and dry. I am still applying Vaseline 3x daily as that was all I could put on that did not irritate or create more blisters.

Now with the itching it has been recommended to place Vaseline in the fridge and apply cold Vaseline to ease the itchiness and continue wrapping it.

I have been in the garden a little and using my other hand more with no issues.

So with everything said and done. There is no answer to what happened.

Thank you all for your concerns and responses. As I did approach the Dr's with some of your suggestions.

Still no cooking and baking for awhile. 😞

I will not be baking or cooking for a while.

Saturday worked in the garden and in the evening had a bit of a rash, thought it may have been an insect bite. Sunday morning got worse and sore burning, not itchy- took antihistamines and put allergy cream on (burnt like he**) washed it off. Just spreading a little more. Monday hand started to swell and a few tiny blisters. Went to hosp ER . Dr told me it was dermatitis to go home and put polysporian on it and put me on amoxicillin, should be better in a couple days.
Went home put polysporian on it and in 3 min the blisters tripled in amount and size. Today saw Dr and my hand has been quarantined until test results come back. After swabs were taken entire hand and wrist swelled except 2 last knuckles.

Will let you all know when I'm baking and cooking again.

Well it's 3 weeks now with no heat in the house. We woke up at midnight to the alarm system going off cause the boiler finally quit working after 1 week of only heating 1/2 the house. Landlord is out of the country. Not sure when he will be back. At least I get to go to work to warm up a bit, but Stephen has heated hoody/socks/and gloves on and we have a heated blanket on the bed. Finally Thursday he bought 2 space heaters. They are working well. Hope the weather warms up soon.

Yep, that is definitely what the kids did when we weren't looking.
Ha, I remember when I was a kid I was the same.

I use to swim the river just to get to the field where I could ride the calves in the field they were in. Just covered in dirt, scrapes, and bruises. The biggest challenge was to not get caught by the owner.
