📌 PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER
Reminder: By placing an order with Courtney’s Cakes, you acknowledge and agree to the following policies:
BOOKING & PAYMENT
• A 50% deposit is required to secure your date. Your order/date is not considered booked until the deposit has been received.
• Deposit/payment instructions will be provided to the email address supplied at the time of booking.
• The remaining 50% balance is due no later than 36 hours before pickup or delivery. Orders must be paid in full before they are released.
• All bookings are subject to availability. A quote or inquiry does not guarantee your date until your deposit has been received and your booking has been confirmed.
• Deposits are non-refundable once a booking has been confirmed, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
PICKUP, DELIVERY & STORAGE
• Once your order has been picked up or delivered, proper transportation, handling, storage and care of the product becomes the customer’s responsibility.
• Cakes and other products containing perishable/refrigerated fillings, frostings or ingredients must be refrigerated as instructed and should not be left at room temperature for extended periods.
• Please transport cakes on a flat, level surface in an air-conditioned vehicle, away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Courtney’s Cakes is not responsible for damage, melting, shifting, spoilage or other changes resulting from improper transportation, handling, storage, temperature exposure or failure to follow care instructions after the order has been released to the customer.
• Once an order has been delivered, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the order is received and appropriately stored.
QUALITY & CONTAMINATION CHECK
• Every order is visually inspected by Courtney’s Cakes prior to pickup or delivery to ensure that it meets the agreed-upon design and is free from visible foreign materials or contaminants at the time it leaves my possession.
• Customers are encouraged to inspect their order upon receipt and before serving.
• Once an order has been picked up or delivered and is no longer in the possession and control of Courtney’s Cakes, I cannot control how the product is handled, stored, transported or exposed to outside substances or foreign materials.
• Courtney’s Cakes cannot be held responsible for dust, debris, foreign objects, contamination, damage or other issues introduced after the order has left my possession, including issues resulting from transportation, handling, storage, serving or environmental exposure.
• If you notice an issue with your order upon receipt, please contact Courtney’s Cakes immediately and before consuming or altering the product, and provide photographs where possible so the concern can be assessed.
ALLERGIES & FOOD SAFETY
• Courtney’s Cakes is a peanut- and tree-nut-free bakery.
• While every reasonable precaution is taken to maintain this standard, customers with allergies should communicate all allergy concerns before placing an order.
• Courtney’s Cakes is not a completely allergen-free kitchen. Other allergens may be present or handled in the kitchen, including but not limited to dairy, eggs, wheat/gluten and soy.
• Requests for other allergen accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis and cannot be guaranteed unless specifically confirmed in writing before the order is accepted.
• Customers are responsible for communicating all known allergies or dietary requirements at the time of ordering.
CUSTOM DESIGNS
• Inspiration photos are welcome; however, custom cakes are handmade products and will not be exact replicas of another baker’s work, photographs or designs. Colours, decorations, proportions and finishes may vary slightly.
• I reserve the right to decline a design or order that falls outside my current skill level, equipment, experience or ability to execute safely and to the quality standard I aim to provide. This is not a reflection of the customer’s design—it simply means I may not currently be the right baker for that particular request.
DELIVERY
• Delivery is available throughout Durham Region starting at $10, depending on distance and availability.
• Delivery fees are quoted and agreed upon before the order is confirmed.
• The customer is responsible for ensuring someone is available to receive the order at the agreed delivery time.
ORDER CHANGES & COMMUNICATION
• Please review your order details carefully before confirming your booking. This includes the date, time, flavour, size, design, wording, colours and any allergy/dietary information.
• Changes to an order are subject to availability and may result in an additional charge.
• Last-minute changes cannot always be accommodated.
FINAL ORDERS
• Because custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies are made specifically for each customer, cancellations, refunds or changes are handled according to the agreed booking terms and applicable Ontario consumer-protection laws.
• Courtney’s Cakes reserves the right to decline any order, including orders that are outside the bakery’s current capacity, skill level, availability or ability to complete safely and appropriately.
