The little bears on the cupcakes.
It is customary in Chinese tradition to celebrate baby's one month birthday. Very often the parents of the baby will drop a box full of yummies (usually consist of red coloured eggs, some traditional sweets or we even have had yummy whole roast chicken complete with rice and sweets delivered to us) to close family and friends. When my son Hamish celebrated his first month birthday we all dressed in red (considered lucky colour), made a cake (boy it took forever to finish between nappy changes and breastfeedings!), waved a cooked pork belly on him (so that he grew up to be a nice kid :) ) and coloured some boiled eggs in red. My husband and my in laws watched in awe (witchcraft probably crossed their mind, lol) and progressed waving the pork belly at the baby when asked.
Brendan's mum requested sets of two cupcakes and two cookies in a box for his one month birthday. There were a teddy bear cupcake, a rubber duck cupcake, an elephant cookie and a round cookie decorated with white icing and blue letter B in a box. She then placed Brendan's birth card announcement on the box and et voila, a sweet surprise for their family and friends!
The little bears look particularly adorable! Dont you agree? Thanks Phyllis for letting me take part in Brendan's first month celebration. Happy one month birthday baby Brendan xx
