Carrying out annual smoke detector testing. We ended up using all the extension poles for this building .

After carrying out the annual assessment of this class 2 Residential buildings Mechanical Air-Handling system , we found the Car park supply fan was not activating or running in fire mode.
A bit of amending of the Fire panel configuration program fixed the issue.
Now the system runs in fire mode as originally designed.

Today we had a Diesel hydrant pump engine serviced as per AS1851-2012.Also an annual hydrant system flow test to confirm the required design and flow pressures are available should the system be used in the event of a fire.

FPAA issued brochure on upcoming AS1851-2012 maintenance requirements of Fire safety systems .
This will be mandatory from February 13 2025.
There will be extra maintenance and testing requirements needed to be carried out on your essential Fire safety measures.

Having a Hydrant system Booster inflow testing and 5 yearly Hydrostatic pressure test is an important periodical procedure to ensure the Buildings Fire hydrant system can perform in the event of a fire when being boosted by the attending fire brigade.
Upcoming Australia standard 1851-2012 mandatory requirements in NSW in February 2025 means this and many other tests will be required .
Any hydrant systems that are 5 years old or more and have not had these tests carried out in the last 5 years will need the 5 yearly tests carried out starting from the above date.

We install fire door safety signage so the building is safe.
Some tenants decide to make their own rules up .🤦🏼‍♂️

Last time we carried out an electrical fit out here was back in 2013.
New tenant moving in now so we’re doing upgrade works of the emergency lighting and fire detection and alarm system .

Today we had Prime Pumps carry out a Hydrany system hydrostatic test and a Booster flow test.
These are required to be carried out every 5 years to make sure your hydrant system can handle the pressures of the attending fire brigade pumping appliances during a fire.

As of the 1st of August 2023 Fire Safety Schedules for Class 1B to Class 9 buildings can now be amended using this form .

After 20 months of Building code researching and assessments I can finally say I have graduated from my Diploma in Fire Systems Anual Certifier .
What a weight off my shoulders .

This is why regular fire safety inspections are so critical,
This required powered sliding exit door has been screwed shut.
In the event of a fire this could be a serious issue for people trying to get out of the building.
