LAKX The LAKX Initiative enables change in East Africa through knowledge exchange with collaboration part They can be harnessed for the good of the community.

The Latitude Knowledge Exchange (LAKX) Initiative enables capability development and sustainable growth in East Africa through knowledge exchange in collaboration with Australian partners. God has blessed the region with resources, climate, topography, soils, flora and fauna, wildlife and many other good things. Knowledge is exchanged through "knowledge by doing". Communities, professionals, organ

isations and industries gain knowledge through the LAKX programs held either in Australia or in East Africa.

Australia Kenya Business Conference and Exhibition

Her Excellency, Alison Chartres, Australian High Commissioner in Kenya and His Excellency Isaiya Kabira, Kenyan High Commissioner in Australia. What great representation of both Australia and Kenya at this conference.

Brain Gain!

This term is really so descriptive. I heard Prof S Makinda (EBS) applying it so well in a conversation at the Australia-Kenya Business Conference and exhibition in Perth. It describes the intellectual (and other) value added to Kenya by those in the diaspora- rather than brain drain!

At the conference, many WA Kenyan Australians with businesses in Australia talked about their work in Australia as well as their brain gain contribution to Kenya!

I later met with Dr. David Mickler (Director, Africa Research & Engagement Centre, UWA) one of the keynote speakers to explore collaboration opportunities for the LAKX Initiative.

Alliances.

As the LAKX Initiative develops we are growing the collaboration alliances required to address the multi-faceted factors involved in building capability among small scale in Kenya.

We have recently formed another working alliance- with Cross Frontier International (CFI). The Latitude 4-40 Consulting Directors Mwaniki Wa-Gichia and Nyambura Mwaniki recently met with Lucy Mimano- CFI's Chief Executive Officer.

At Latitude 4-40 we are passionate about developing capabilities of communities and institutions in East Africa. We have designed a vehicle to facilitate this known as the Knowledge Exchange Initiative.

In collaboration with Kym Kruse (RegenAG) we worked with a small group of small scale farmers in Kenya to develop a foundational regenerative agricultural capability among them, that is sustainable and owned by them.

Our second phase of the Knowledge Exchange Initiative (Agriculture) in Kenya, will be launched soon. It will have a broader scope of collaboration and a wider set of stakeholders. We are also developing new alliances in Kenya and will have our own Latitude 4-40 East African Representative.

Exciting days ahead.

Our social enterprise, the LAKX Initiative, involves the promotion of Kenyan artworks in Australia.

This promotion uses a model of informal rotating/revolving temporary exhibitions held in various institutions as artwork on loan.

We have just completed a rotation at the Kenyan High Commission in Canberra, Australia.

Thank you Kenyan High Commission for supporting the promotion of Kenyan art.

LAKX Agro-Technology
We are working hard at developing a business eco-system that addresses the life-cycle of value addition in agriculture using agro-technology and ensures sustainable agricultural value addition.
Some of our collaboration experts met with us recently to discuss the eco-system and develop some approaches.
