I’m dead keen for this Sunday.
I’ll be trading at .retreat_and_market at Winbourne 10-3pm.

Located in the Mary Rice room (same spot as previously) I am packing the car with loads of non-superwash 4,5 and 8ply yarn and fibre.

This is a FREE event, so please do grab a friend and come along for a day out and if you don’t have a friend to bring, please come along as you are likely to make a new friend while you’re there!

My drying rack today.

Getting a few things together for .retreat_and_market next month.
This week I am focusing on 4ply. I know the shelves have been bare for a while so I’m going to try and fix that.

Today’s the day of the cast-on party for 7:30pm - all welcome. I’ll be there. Will you?

I’m thinking I will make a Noble Jumper. The first one turned out great, the cables really pop with my woollen spun yarn.

Since my jumpers have a rough life I prefer to make them with yarn which is a bit crunchier. The Scuttlebutt yarn base black merino/ Perendale is perfect for outerwear garments, warm but light and far less prone to pilling.

Despite those pesky inner demons, you’ve just got to keep swinging.
When it seems and often is the case that things are collapsing all around you (look over my shoulder), some things are still standing. The May floods along the Manning River were catastrophic and reached inside our homes and souls and took a lot of stuff away.

‘March on’ the wind whispers as it blows through the she-oaks which line the riverbanks.

The grass it grows again.
Replacement work boots return to traverse old floor boards, once stately trees which spread their branches over and above a different generation, but now lie beneath our feet holding us suspended just above the earth. These boards they saw it all, felt it all, contained it all.
The boards remind me I am not alone, we hold loosely together by tooth and nail from sunrise to sunset and give thanks for each rise and fall we are fortunate to witness.

My friend, an arborist lost his life this week on his way home from work in a tragic road incident.
Gab taught me how to see trees for the majestic things they are, he also helped me to preserve and manage some of the big trees on my family property. We would be nothing without trees and the amazing people who manage them.
