To promote comradeship gained through service with the Regiment and to Perpetuate the Regiment.

To cultivate and maintain the comradeship created during service with the Regiment. To provide enjoyment for members and partners through social activity. To raise funds necessary for achievement of the objectives and to acquire any property needed for that purpose. To act as custodians of the Regimental Museum, in association with units of The Regiment. To provide and present to serving members of The Regiment, special awards that acknowledge outstanding achievement in certain fields.

SITUATION VACANT - Merchandising Officer
With the impending departure of our Association Merchandising Officer CPL Selina Laing, her position is now vacant and requires filling. It’s not an onerous or time consuming task, but will require about 1 or 2 hours per month to take, fill and post off any orders for merchandise that come in.
The process is quite simple:
1. Take order by email or phone.
2. If stock available, collate and pack order.
3. If stock NOT available order more via the President.
4. Take order to the nearest Australia Post Office, and place in appropriate bag.
5. Have Aust Post staff weigh bag and contents and they will give you a price to post.
6. Advise buyer of overall cost, and once they have paid their money, post order off.
7. Send Aust Post receipt to President or Treaurer who will reimburse you immediately.
It’s that simple! We currently have 4 plastic bins of polo tops, caps, ties and hoodies etc, and 2 cardboard boxes of catering items, which when stacked won’t take up much room.
If you can spare a few hours, we’d be happy to take your details. All applications will go before the committee for approval. Please contact the President David Laing on [email protected] to discuss your new task 

In 1975 a team of soldiers from 10 Battalion RSAR, led by WO1 Ernie Hayden, travelled to the Dean Rifle Range at Gilman to compete in the prestigious Crane Shield Shoot, a competition held for many years between combined teams of Army Cadets and Army, Navy and Air Force shooters.

The 1975 Competition was won by the team from 10 Battalion and St Michaels College, and the trophy was to be displayed at St Michaels for 6 months and then 10 Battalion for a further 6 months, before it was returned to 4th Military District HQ for the next years competition.

The Shield was “lost” and never competed for again. The Crane Shield was located many years later after being rescued from a skip bin at Keswick Barracks, and is now on display in the Army Museum of SA at Keswick Barracks.

Members of the successful 1975 team included LCPL Mick Hudson and CPL David Laing, but the names of the other team members are unknown. If you or someone you know were on that team, we’d love to hear from you. Or if you happened to be on the St Michaels contingent, please get in touch.

The Krupp 77 mm German Gun was captured by soldiers from the 10th Battalion during WW1. It was gifted to the people of Adelaide by the British Commonwealth in 1920. It has been restored by the folk from the Army Museum and now stands undercover at the front of the 10th/27th Battalion Headquarters and sadly needs some maintenance work.
The gun is now Regimental property, so the Army Museum may not be able to help us.
It needs a good clean, and we need to look at some areas of surface rust.
Peter Collins ex 2/10th Bn. Assoc. member has come on board with the RSAR team on Wednesdays only – however he assists with some restoration work on Mondays in the vehicle compound.
He may be able to assist but will need some help for the clean up.

The 2026 Annual General Meeting has been set for Sunday 2nd August at the Avoca Hotel on South Road, Clarence Gardens at 1100 hrs. Some important additions need to be made to our Constitution, and these require members support. Please lock in the date and reserve your seats ASAP.

On Tuesday 5th May we had the pleasure of attending the Army Museum of SA at Keswick Barracks for a guided tour with soldiers from A Coy based at Warradale. Des Hawkins arranged the tour which was ably conducted by CPL Adrian Li and LCPL Eamonn McGarry. I also had the pleasure of presenting New Arrivals Packs to PTE Isaac Osborne and SGT Craig Stephens, whose wives had recently given birth. A 3rd pack has been organised for LCPL Matthew Nakone and will be presented at a later date.

The Battalion "Soldier of the Year" Honour Board is now complete and will be returned to the foyer of Battalion HQ on Tuesday evening. In 1993 LCPL Livio Djakovic was named " 1993 Soldier of the Year" but due to an administration error (again) his surname was spelt incorrectly as Jakovic. We were made aware of this last year, and the error has now been rectified. Thanks to Garry Allen from Oz Signs at Murray Bridge for your professionalism and hard work.

This Veterans Family Day is a FREE event open to all Defence Force members, past and present, and their families. The magnificent Band of the 10th/27th Battalion will also feature.

On Sunday February 15th we travelled to RAAF Base Edinburgh to support our soldiers who were participating in the Force Preservation Awareness Training exercise. This is an obligatory weekend that brings everyone up to required qualifications. We catered for around 180 soldiers and provided them with BBQ sausages on bread and onions, and a mixed fruit platter for dessert. We also offered a range of ice cold soft drinks to quench their thirst. We took the chance to chat with some soldiers during the lunch break and handed out some Application Forms to prospective members.
Our thanks go to Graham & Julie Elliott, Geoff Tattersall, Des Hawkins, Selina Laing, Nat Cooke, Max Hill and Colin Phillips for their hard work on the day. Thanks also to WO2 Phil Stuart for providing the BBQ gear, cooler boxes and gazebos. It made our task much easier. Many thanks to June Laing for the photos and to Captain Emma Viggers for organising security passes for our entry to the RAAF Base.
