For those new to my page ..
Hello, I’m Jo 🤗
Here is a bit of my foodie story… and a little about me.
My go to style is vintage with a collection of beautiful antique & old silver platters that I love to use to present our food.
olive leaves & scrunched up brown paper & lemons for garnish are my thing! 🍋🌿
I feel as though I have worked within the hospitality industry since the bears were bad! and once upon a time with the chef walking out on the job one night .. I suddenly went from my role as kitchen hand into the role of head cook 👩🏼🍳 at one of the local pubs I was working in at 18. The steak sanga & hot chips were my signature dish! 😆
After waitressing in my early 20’s at weddings & events at The Big Pineapple 🍍 Sunshine Coast, I moved back home to Goondiwindi in 1998 ..
Where I joined the team & started working for my gorgeous mother within her amazing catering business …
✨Annie Makim Catering ✨
For the next twenty years I was learning & working alongside the best! A fabulously fun boss who not only had a wonderful flare for food & flavours to bring to the table but a kind of magic about her that just made you feel good being in the same room 💫 if you were lucky enough to have met or known Annie.. been part of her team along the way or had her business cater for you.. you know exactly what I mean ♥️ miss her so dearly.
We travelled to cater everywhere from inner city mansions, outback country towns, marquee weddings on the side of river banks.. trackside, formals, bday’s, family reunions, camp drafts! Lots of laughter along the way of course ( that being, THE secret ingredient)
In 2015- 2016 I started
✨Jo Jesse Catering ✨ after moving to Highfields. Mum & I then reversing roles w her becoming my wing woman. So lucky to have some wonderful likeminded, talented foodies & wait staff to work alongside me still travelling around the countryside … some of whom were also part of Mum’s team too & continue to be part of mine today ..
which is pretty special 💫
My favourite part of being a caterer is not only the creativity of working w food but being able to play a little part in people’s big moments. It’s working alongside and always having an awesome team with me who are just as passionate about getting the taste, presentation and timing just right, like a well oiled machine. And the satisfaction of it all coming together, right down to the sprig of rosemary garnish! 🤌🏻
So that’s my foodie story, thanks for tuning in!
I’m off to put the kettle on 🫖 🤗
Big love,
Jo x
