Breath is our life force. We don't often pay attention to it, but it's always there, quietly persisting, keeping us alive. Simply paying attention to the breath can have benefits for our well-being. At its most basic, breathwork is this: simply pausing and focusing attention on your inhalations and exhalations. Some benefits of breathwork are:
> It can calm you and reduce anxiety. Regular breathwork can lower blood pressure and cortisol levels (cortisol controls our body's stress response).
> It can help you focus. Breathwork can boost your attention span and keep you on task when your mind starts to wander.
> It strengthens the diaphragm and improves the mind-body connection.
> It can help with pain management.
> It just makes you feel good! Conscious breathing can boost your mood and increases joy. When we feel good, we feel confident, and our self-image and self-esteem get a boost too.
I personally use a box breathing method where I inhale through my nose for 4 sec then hold for 4 sec then exhale through mouth for 4 secs hold for 4 secs and repeat for about a minute or so before bed. I also use this method if I feel panicked or feel an anxiety attack coming on. Let me know what your thoughts are? Do you have and breathing techniques you can share?

Making stuff happen
Thinking, desiring, wanting...It can be easy to fall into the trap of believing we're making progress towards realising our dreams by merely picturing them in our minds, by wanting it. But it's only by taking positive action towards the life we want that we start to edge closer to it.

Action is empowering yourself to break free of the wanting and thinking cycle. It's being curious and, more importantly, following up on that curiosity. Trying things out. Giving yourself the chance to grow.

We all have built-in obstacles to action. You're not alone if you suffer from limiting thoughts, self-doubt, fear of failure, imposter syndrome, and all kinds of self-sabotage. Overcoming this is part of taking action.

One tactic is to "take the learning". Instead of letting a generalised fear of failure swirl around in your mind, ask yourself constructive questions like: What is the worst thing that could happen? What you want your life to look like might seem like an intimidating question, so break it down. Choose smaller things to start with. Exercise your action muscles, see them start to bulge, then throw them bigger challenges. Action creates action.

Find a book and come along with me!
What are some of the things you want to do?
Write a list of the actions you'd like to take to bring you closer to your ideal life - the small things and the big things.

Wellbeing. It's a deceptively simple little word. As easy as ABC, and as complex as a whole alphabet's worth of subjects (and more).

Most simple. it's being healthy- eating well, sleeping enough, getting some exercise -laying- the foundations of physical well-being.

Beyond that there are a host of other things that influence our mental and emotional well-being - our happiness, contentment, ability to thrive, our social connections, our work, how we deal with stress, our capacity to learn new things and express intimacy - these factors and more play into overall well-being.

We will be covering 26 of the big ones! Remember that the factors that influence well-being are interrelated. Your work is a source of social connection and maybe support. Spending time in nature will help you learn to be more mindful, and perhaps activate a greater source of gratitude. Well-being is a big subject, but it's also a righteous circle: the more you work at it from one angle, the more the results spread throughout your life.

From waking up energized and ready for action to hitting the pillow ready for ZZZZ's we hope to help you create greater well-being from A-Z.

🌟 Introducing Kelly Roberts: A Journey of Resilience 🌟

Hey everyone, I'm Kelly Roberts—a dedicated support worker and a student on a path towards a Bachelor's in Counselling. Alongside my professional journey, I'm a proud mum to five incredible children, with three already grown and two still at home.

My career hasn't followed a straight line. I've ventured into entrepreneurship with successful ventures in both cake baking and cleaning businesses. However, life threw me a curveball when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and faced soft tissue damage in my back, leading me to step back from cleaning.

But beyond these physical challenges, I've navigated through some of life's toughest storms. For two decades, I found myself in a toxic relationship—a journey that nearly cost me my life. Amidst the chaos, I found my soul mate and got married—a beacon of light in the darkness.

Being the sole provider for my family has its weight, and it's taken its toll. Yet, amidst it all, I've embarked on a journey of self-recovery—a journey I want to share with you all.

Join me as I open up about my experiences, my triumphs, and my struggles. My hope is that through my transparency, someone out there will find solace or inspiration.

Together, let's embark on this journey of resilience and growth. 💪✨

'Not a Hero'

The ANZAC Day march was over - the old Digger had done his best.
His body ached from marching - it was time to sit and rest.
He made his way to a park bench and sat with lowered head.
A young boy passing saw him - approached and politely said,
"Please sir do you mind if I ask you what the medals you wear are for?
Did you get them for being a hero, when fighting in a war?"

Startled, the old Digger moved over and beckoned the boy to sit.
Eagerly the lad accepted - he had not expected this!
"First of all I was not a hero," said the old Digger in solemn tone,
"But I served with many heroes, the ones that never came home.
So when you talk of heroes, it's important to understand,
The greatest of all heroes gave their lives defending this land.

"The medals are worn in their honour, as a symbol of respect.
All diggers wear them on ANZAC Day - it shows they don't forget."
The old digger then climbed to his feet and asked the boy to stand.
Carefully he removed the medals and placed them in his hand.
He told him he could keep them - to treasure throughout his life,
A legacy of a kind - left behind - paid for in sacrifice.

Overwhelmed the young boy was speechless - he couldn’t find words to say.
It was there the old Digger left him - going quietly on his way.
In the distance the young boy glimpsed him - saw him turn and wave goodbye.
Saddened he sat alone on the bench - tears welled in his eyes.
He never again saw him ever - but still remembers with pride,
When the old Digger told him of Heroes and a young boy sat and cried.
