We can now put an official post out in regards to our coffee shop in the marketplace.
The COVID lockdowns sent our shop spirally far more than we ever expected it too, it took a great amount of loans, personal finances being put in to claw our way back out last year, unfortunately after Christmas we noticed revenue dropped off, which it often does but it never came back this time. Our sales had halved, the marketplace had ruthlessly put yet another drink store right in front us and we were competing with another 4 coffee shops in a small shopping centre. Things weren’t adding up.
We enlisted the help of a business consultant, he looked in to our business, he assured as we had ran the business well and were great owners but it wasn’t working, like many in hospitality industry we were suffering and he suggested it was time to get out before it cost us even further debt than it already had.
We attempted to sell through no help of rising rent costs and failed lease negotiations with our landlord it was impossible to sell. So we decided to close our doors much to all our disappointment.
We are so incredibly thankful for our amazing staff, Shaun and Jade for the day to runnings of the store and of course our loyal customers if it wasn’t for all of you we wouldn’t have made it as far as we did. It really was a family run business.
Let’s just say we really did Give it a Shot
In 5 years we have endured 5 floods, a bushfire and two long COVID lockdowns. It’s amazing we kept our heads above water for that long.
COVID has affected small businesses more than so many will ever know, all we ask is , support your local pizza place/pop up, support your coffee shop/ pop up, support that travel agent for your next trip, because all to soon they might not be there, they might not be able to keep going. Small businesses are doing it tough so please help them.
We know many people have coffee machines now and we can do a lot of what cafes can do at home but it sure would be a sad world for our children in 10 years if there were no cafes for them to enjoy. All because we could do it cheaper and 'better' at home.
We are set up on pecks road with the trailer company in the interim for any one that misses our coffee and cakes.
