Thought… I live in a very built-up area and have just had cause to go to a shop for necessities and I encountered floods in any slight depression of the road ahead of me but I did notice that most of the water had accumulated at or near the location of a drain. Now I am aware that even well maintained drains struggle with unusual amounts of precipitation but, and here is the crux of the matter, I can honestly say I am not aware of Frankston council doing any drain clearance (flood drains or otherwise) for some years. We do have big Silver Gnomes, Pearl Necklaces, and other unnecessary decorative and expensive eye-sores dotted about the municipality, could the money spent on these frivolous things not be spent more wisely on keeping our way of life sustainable by doing the job councils are in place to do? I as a driver if nothing else, I would willingly forgo pretty pretties and enjoy the sight of workers doing the job they are engaged for, to keep our streets clear and safe. Many floods are the result of out and out ignorance of responsibility by public servants….especially in long time built-up areas.
