MEET PRIMALISTA DANIELLE O’NEILL 🌿

Today we're heading to Helidon in Queensland to introduce you to Primalista Danielle O'Neill!

Danielle runs her Primal Alternative baking business from home, bringing delicious, grain-free baked goods to customers across Toowoomba, Gatton and the Lockyer Valley.

A lifelong baker, Danielle wanted something that would fit around her semi-retirement, her family commitments and her love of being in the kitchen.

These days, you'll find her at the Toowoomba Farmers Market every second Saturday, where she's building a loyal following of customers who are thrilled to find baked goods that suit their dietary needs.

Her most popular products include our Low Carb Seed Loaf, Turmeric & H**p Loaf and Pumpkin Loaf, with other goodies from the Primal Alternative range available to order.

One of Danielle's regular customers sums it up perfectly:

"You're the cook, and I'm the buyer!"

And that's what I love about our Primalistas. They're real people, running their own little baking businesses, making a difference in their communities.

I recently sat down with Danielle for a chat about her business, what she's been baking, her customers and what she'd like to do next.

Grab a cuppa and meet Danielle in our video!

See that Woolies bag under letterbox 885?

Well that's my Primal Alternative delivery of Grain-Free Pastry and H**p Wraps from my local Primalista Kat! Alternative by Kat

Ok, we do live in regional WA - our letterboxes are at the end of our veerrrry long road - so there is maybe a bit more old fashioned trust.

But that's what I love so much about knowing my local Primal Alternative baker. Being able to text an order, arrange drop off like this.

Just makes the whole experience so much more convenient and a little bit fun!

JO WHITTON FROM QUIRKY COOKING IS COMING TO WA!!

And I am SO excited!

Back in around 2012, I was struggling with my health. SIBO, reflux, constipation, anxiety, insomnia, inflammation. The list went on!

I'd started eating gluten-free, then grain-free, ditching processed foods, sugar and seed oils.

And with two little kids to feed, I remember wondering what on earth I was going to cook for dinner every night.

Because there was NO WAY I was cooking one meal for me and another for the family!

A few friends told me I absolutely HAD to check out Cooking

And I always tell Jo this, but her recipes were an absolute lifesaver.

Simple, nourishing, delicious food that the whole family actually wanted to eat. No ridiculously exotic ingredients or spending a fortune at health food shops.

Her recipes played such a huge part in my health recovery.

Then in 2017, I met Jo in Perth and told her about my little home baking business, Primal Alternative.

She loved what I was doing and started sharing it with her wonderful community of like-minded women.

And that really changed everything!

But the best thing to come out of it all?

Jo and I have become very good friends.

We send each other ridiculously long WhatsApp voice messages, talking about absolutely anything and everything, and I just love her to absolute smithereens.

The second photo is from when I flew all the way to Far North Queensland to see Jo.

Jo, we seriously need to get some new photos together!! 😂

AND NOW SHE'S COMING TO MY NECK OF THE WOODS!

She's doing four Quirky Cooking classes this November:

📍 Perth, 12 & 13 Nov

📍 Denmark, 15 Nov

📍 Gracetown (Margaret River), 17 Nov

I'll be at ALL FOUR events with a Primal Alternative stall, so come and say hello, have a cuppa and try some of our delicious products.

You'll get to watch Jo cook, taste her amazing food, pick up loads of tips, get your cookbooks signed and meet a whole bunch of like-minded people.

I would absolutely LOVE to see you there!

Thinking of starting your own little home baking business in 2027?

Here’s something worth knowing about timing.

This isn’t me just saying “now’s a good time to start” for fake urgency.

There’s actually a practical reason why October and early November can be a really good time to get the wheels turning.

For a straightforward Primalista application, we generally find most councils can get you through the home kitchen approval process in around 30 days.

But once you start getting into mid to late November, you’re heading straight towards Christmas, summer holidays and all those public holidays we have here in Australia.

People take leave.

Offices have fewer staff around.

Applications can start to bottleneck a little.

Nothing wrong with council.

It’s just that time of year.

So if you’re thinking you’d love to have your own little home bakery in 2027, you don’t necessarily need to wait until 2027 to start.

You could get your application underway now, get your kitchen approved and then decide what you want to do with it.

Maybe you’d love to get into some Christmas markets this year.

Maybe you could do beautiful little Christmas gifts: packs of cookies for stocking fillers, fruit mince pies, granola for teachers’ gifts.

Or maybe you don’t want to sell a single thing before Christmas.

You could just ease into it.

Get your approval sorted.

Learn the recipes over summer.

Try everything out on your friends and family.

Work out what you love making.

Then when you’re ready in the new year, you can start taking pre-orders, approach your local IGA or health food shop, book yourself into a market, or whatever feels right for you.

The groundwork is already done.

So if starting a Primalista business is something you’ve been thinking about for 2027, now is a really good time to come and have a chat with me.

We can talk about where you live, what your local council process is likely to look like, what you want the business to fit around and when you’d ideally like to be open.

Then you can get the wheels turning without feeling like you need to rush into anything.

Some people can pick up a guitar and make it sing.

Some people can walk into a room, move the furniture around and somehow make the whole place look fabulous.

My thing is people.

I love asking questions.

I love finding out what somebody really wants.

And sometimes getting underneath what they think they want.

I’ve been doing it pretty much my whole life.

From interviewing visitors to our house with my tape recorder as a kid 😂 to 10 years working in recruitment, thousands of interviews, 100+ podcast episodes and now well over 1,000 Primalista Calls.

And the funny thing is, the more I learn about myself, the more I realise this stuff is basically what I'm made for!

My top five CliftonStrengths are Strategic, Activator, Positivity, Futuristic and Relator. Which basically means I naturally connect with people, see where they want to go, spot the possible paths to get there and then want to get things moving.

Then there’s my astrological chart. We looked at this recently and it made me laugh because there it was AGAIN. Lots around communication, questioning and making complicated things easier to understand, but also this ability to dig beneath the surface and pick up on what somebody isn’t necessarily saying out loud.

And then I’m a Manifesting Generator in Human Design, which for me is another way of describing that ability to see possibilities, join dots and find a way forward that perhaps wasn’t immediately obvious.

It’s in my soul. 😂

And I think that’s why I love doing Primalista Calls so much.

I’m not getting on call to convince you to become a Primalista.

I want to understand you.

Where are you now?

What do you actually want?

What do you want your work and life to look like?

What would you like to earn?

How much time do you have?

And could Primal Alternative actually help you get from HERE to THERE?

Because if it can, I’m really jolly good at seeing that pathway.

And if it can’t, I’m not going to try to convince you otherwise.

So if you’ve been watching Primal Alternative for a while and wondering whether this could work for you, come and have a cuppa with me on a call.

We’ll talk it through.

Apparently Gen X is rewriting retirement.

And I reckon becoming a Primalista fits rather nicely into that.

Because I speak to so many women in their late 40s and 50s who aren’t dreaming about working flat out until 67 and then suddenly… stopping.

But they’re not necessarily dreaming about never working again either.

They still want purpose.

They still want to earn their own money.

They still want something that’s theirs.

They just don’t want work dictating their whole life anymore.

The kids are older. The mortgage might be smaller. The huge expenses of those family years are starting to ease.

And suddenly the question changes from:

“What job should I do?”
to:
“What do I actually want my life to look like?”

Maybe it’s working three days instead of five.

Taking off for a month without asking a boss for permission.

Having time for your parents, your grandkids, travel, exercise, your garden, your friends… whatever matters to you.

And still having a little business ticking along that brings in money, gives you purpose and keeps you connected to your local community.

That’s one of the things I love most about the Primalista model.

It doesn’t have to become some enormous empire.

You can bake from your own kitchen, sell locally, choose how much you want to do and build a business around the life you want to live.

Maybe retirement doesn’t need to mean stopping work.

Maybe it can mean finally getting to choose how you work.

And that sounds pretty bloody Gen X to me.

If you’ve been thinking about what your next chapter could look like, comment INFO and I’ll send you the details about becoming a Primalista.

🍞 When people think Primal Alternative, I reckon BREAD is probably the first thing that comes to mind.

And fair enough. Our loaves have been a huge part of Primal Alternative from the beginning.

Of course, we make a whole lot more than bread these days. Think H**p Wraps, Low-Carb Bagels, Pizza Bases, Cookies, Granola, packet mixes and seasonal goodies too.

But today, I want to know…

Which Primal Alternative loaf is YOUR favourite?

Our savoury line-up:
🍞 Low-Carb H**p Loaf
Zucchini, h**p seeds, garlic and rosemary. Low carb and brilliant for sandwiches or toast.
🌻 Low-Carb Seed Loaf
Nuts, eggs, zucchini and loads of seeds, with only 1g carbs per slice.
💛 Turmeric & H**p Loaf
Our plant-based option packed with nuts, seeds, h**p, turmeric, garlic and thyme.
🎃 Pumpkin Loaf
Pumpkin, almond meal, eggs and pumpkin seeds. So good toasted.
🥒 Zucchini Loaf
Our classic savoury zucchini and almond loaf. Great fresh, toasted or as sandwich bread.

And then there are our sweeter fruit loaves…
❤️ Fruit & Nut Loaf with Goji Berries
🧡 Fruit & Nut Loaf with Inca Berries
🍫 Choc Fruit & Nut Loaf

Yes, chocolate absolutely belongs in bread. 😆

Most of our loaves can also be sliced and frozen, so you can grab out a slice or two whenever you need them.

So come on…
Which one are you choosing?

And if you’ve tried more than one, I want your official ranking. 👇

I wanted you to know that I’m hosting my final Primalista Info Session for the year.

Because if you want to get into the Christmas markets OR get started with your own bake-from-home business in 2027, now is actually a really good time to get the wheels turning.

It normally takes around 6–8 weeks to get open for business.

That’s getting your home kitchen approved, getting the equipment you need, ordering ingredients and packaging, contacting your first customers and starting baking and selling.

Some Primalistas get going much quicker.

Some take longer.

There’s no rush.

But 6–8 weeks is a really nice, cruisy amount of time to get set up.

So on Thursday 1st October at 9am AWST, come and spend an hour with me on Zoom.

Get a cuppa and I’ll walk you through how it all works.

The products, the Licence, getting your kitchen approved, finding customers, what support you get and what you actually get when you become a Primalista.

And bring your questions. You can ask me anything.

I’m also giving everyone who comes live one of my Secret Primal Alternative Recipes to take away and start baking.

AND, anyone who becomes a Primalista by 21 October will get a Private 8-Week Launch Planning Session with me.

We’ll map out the practical stuff AND the mindset stuff that pops up:

I love baking, but I’m not a salesperson.
How will I fit this in?
How will I find customers?

Then I’ll create your own personalised 8-Week Primalista Launch Plan to take away, so there’s no need to frantically scribble notes while we talk!

But for now, if you’ve been looking at Primal Alternative and you’re curious, but you’re not quite ready to book a call, this is the perfect opportunity to find out more.

Come and meet me.

It’s free, live, and of course there’ll be a replay.

All roads eventually lead back to the interests you had as a child.

I saw this the other day and thought… oh God. It’s true 😂

When I was a kid, I was ALWAYS starting something.

I had one of those little tape recorders and used to record myself interviewing people.

I’d write down pop song lyrics (pausing the tape!) and sell them in the playground!

Same for scrunchies and friendship bracelets.

I was forever starting clubs, organising things, coming up with ideas and trying to get other people involved in whatever my latest thing was.

Basically, I was constantly creating, communicating or starting some sort of tiny business.

And then you grow up and you’re supposed to get sensible.

You get a proper job. You have kids. You get busy. You do all the grown-up things.

But somehow, all these years later, I’ve ended up right back there.

I started a podcast and spent years interviewing people.

I started a food business from my kitchen.

Then I turned that into a business that helps other women start their own little food businesses.

I write constantly.

I make things.

I sell things.

I come up with ideas.

I create communities and bring people together.

Apparently I haven't actually changed that much since I was about 10.

I just have a better tape recorder now.

It made me wonder…

What did you naturally spend your time doing as a kid, before anyone told you what you were supposed to do for work?

And how much of it has somehow found its way back into your life?
