R U OK Day is personal for me. It’s real and it’s raw.

Losing someone to su***de hits a little different. You can’t help but wonder, why you didn’t see the signs.

We all get told to check in on our loved ones, and we do. We ask if they’re okay, they say “yep, I’m okay” and we move on thinking that’s enough.

But life gets crazy. We all have our own responsibilities, our own things going on, and most of the time it’s just chaos.

The truth is, someone can be right in front of you every single day and you still might not realise just how bad things really are.

If I’ve learnt one thing from this, it’s that our lives are short. Let’s slow down a little.

Let’s create a space where people feel comfortable enough to say more than “yep, I’m okay”. Where they know they can talk, even when they don’t know how to put it into words.

Let’s teach our kids this too. That wherever they are in the world, whatever age they are, they know their space is always safe — for themselves and for everyone around them.

It really is the little things that matter the most. 🤎✨
