So I'm sure plenty of you have realised I've been missing from this account for a long time now.

It's with great sadness that I have had to make the decision to close Fig and Violet Bakery.

My fiance and I are moving to Gippsland to start a new chapter of our life and that unfortunately means leaving my little business behind.

I would like to thank every single one of you for following my little journey and ordering cakes and sweet treats from me. I feel so blessed to have had such incredible local support from wonderful people like yourselves.

Perhaps one day, when the time and situation is right, I will start baking again but for now this is goodbye and thankyou all so so much. ✨🧁

Well, I did that thing where I disappeared again!

So much has happened in the last few weeks and socials have definitely taken a back seat.

I finally saw my family for the first time in 12 months and met my beautiful baby niece for the first time.

I've been trying to get back on track with my mental and physical wellbeing and slowly delving back into meditation and spiritual practise.

And excitingly, I got engaged! My wonderful partner has asked me to be his wife and I'm so over the moon.

All in all, it's been hectic and I'm so thankful for all of you being so patient and sticking by me even when I don't post frequently.

We have a couple of new people since last year and I realised I hadn't actually properly introduced myself! Better late than never!

I'm Gabrielle and I'm an ex chef/hospo veteran.
I started baking as a child with my grandmother. Mostly scones and box cake mix but that was enough for me to catch the baking bug.
As I got older I started a chef apprenticeship and knew I was kind of on the right course but still wasn't quite where I wanted to be.
I travelled on and off for 2 years, living and working in the UK and I was lucky enough to get a job in a fabulous pastry kitchen where I learnt so much about desserts and new techniques and methods.

Now settling back down in Melbourne's South East, I spend my days gardening, playing with my dog and of course baking and cooking.

I'm so excited and thankful to have you all on this journey with me and I can't wait to see what the future holds for Fig and Violet Bakery! 💜🌿
