Our aim is to keep our local farmers in business by buying directly from them. This helps lower our collective food miles and packaging. They farm sustainably and ethically which means you get the highest quality food they can grow for you at a fair price. This way everyone wins... you, the farmer and the e
nvironment and we like it that way. Only farmers can sell their own produce, we have no wholesalers here. All farms are inspected to ensure they are genuine organic farms and each farm must be within 3 hrs of bellingen, they must grow organically and they must sell their own food. We only sell meat from animals that have had a real life. Raised on farms where they can go for a run, have a dust bath, dig up some roots, roll in the dirt, flap their wings, forage for insects, lie in the sun or under a tree, wallow in the mud, where they have plenty of room to safely sort out social hierarchies, or go off on their own if their having a bad day! We want you to know who produces your food, where it comes from, how it’s grown and raised and the people who care enough about it to do this with integrity. When you come here every Saturday to buy your food from these farmers, you make the leap from awareness to action by choosing to eat food that improves our collective health in every step of the cycle. It’s in our hands to help secure the future of these small local farms and preserve our planet for the next generation to enjoy. Two companies (Woolworths and Coles) have the power to control our food source, we give it to them by demanding cheap food and we get that at an enormous cost to our health and the livelihood of small farms, thanks to them we lost 14,000 farms last year Australia wide. Small local farmers markets are the only way communities can take back control of their food, and the quality of food they buy. Buying directly from our own local farmers means we can pay them a fair price for their produce and the farmers themselves get it all….as it should be! We also have some great local music and an outdoor cafe serving organic coffee, juices, smoothies, doughnuts, asian fare, breaky omelettes and pastries and an organic gelato bar!
