This weekend I was back to it making cakes cupcakes and brownies. It felt good to be busy but it made me realise that I don’t enjoy baking anymore. Before Drew passed away I had burnt out pretty bad. I had planned to take a few weeks off to assess how to get that spark back and where I was going with Finn bakes.
Between the burn out and losing Drew it’s really put life on hold and made me rethink everything I thought was set in stone for our/my life. I know maybe one day I’ll enjoy baking again but knowing that this is all waiting for me to return or make a decision has just ended up being an added stress to it all.
It’s a bitter sweet moment because I have met so many amazing people through here, experience so many things I never would have gotten the chance to and of course had so much fun.
I have a handful of orders for the next few months that I’ll finish up with then it’s onto the next chapter of life what ever that may be.
I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support we have recieved these last 5 weeks and over the last 2 years. It’s been a crazy ride and I’m so glad that I did it.
I’ll be around for a few days while I sort out the last of my messages and then I’ll be off!

Having to find our new normal really sucks, time doesn’t stop, bills don’t stop and most of all being a parent doesn’t stop.
With all the legal hoops for accessing anything Drew left to us it means that I’ll need to go back to working sooner rather then later and unfortunately running Finn Bakes isn’t something that is consistent with hours or income.
On top of that all Drew was a vital person to this little pipe dream. From groceries/stock pick up, deliveries, markets, being my cheer squad, working extra hard in his day job on the quiet weeks and most of all he would be the main parent for zig Thursday and Friday nights and saturdays so I could work.
Hopefully one day I’ll be back but for now it just feels impossible to juggle. I’ll still be around on this account some days and posting cakes I’ve done before and families cakes.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered support or help in anyway these last 3 weeks.

Our final goodbye today.
There are no words that can’t even begin to describe these last few weeks. You are our home and everyday that passes is a day closer to being with you again.

Not really sure what to say but Drew passed away early Monday morning. We have lost a huge piece of our life and no words can ever explain that.
Drew was such a big part of so many people’s lives not only mine and zigs but his parents, his brother and sister in law and his friends.

It’s been a hot minute since I have made loaded brownies and now I remember how much I love them again 😂
These were our traditional 5 flavours in bite sized pieces for a birthday party!
