When I was growing up, my mum would spend hours planning and preparing every birthday party so that it would be something special that we (myself and my 3 siblings) would always remember. From baking and decorating beautifully created cakes from the Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book, to setting the entire backyard up to “go on a bear hunt” (think the book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by
Michael Rosen), each party was lovingly and meticulously put together. So when it came to my daughter’s first birthday, I knew I wanted to create a beautiful party for her to remember (even if only through photos as she was so young). I enjoyed nothing more than pouring all my love and energy into creating the “Enchanted Party” themed celebration for her special day. Hours were spent on the invitations, cakes, and decorations, in particular the toadstool seats that were used for games of “musical toadstools” and as somewhere for her little fairy friends to rest. I couldn’t stand the thought of these beautiful toadstool seats lying around collecting dust when other little fairies could be enjoying them as much as our daughter and her friends did.
